Every year across North Carolina stars shine and new names emerge. There have been many great big men that have come through the 919 and there looks to be a great crop of young talent holding it down inside. We're going to divide it up by position and area code and spend this article focusing on the big guys in the 919 making a lot of early noise this season.

Conti is off to a really strong start at Millbrook this season with his ability to own both backboards with his rebounding as well as a reliable go to option for Millbrook offensively when the matchup is there. Conti has soft touch around the rim and in the mid-range area while actively working to expand it beyond the arc. He has multiple go to moves on the block and is very comfortable as a screener in the pick and roll. Conti will continue to improve his game and body over the course of this junior season, racking up big performances and recruiting traction in the process.

Jeffries has made the move to Southern Durham and he fits like a glove. He is a very versatile front-court piece that can play on the wing, score from all three levels, and exploit mismatches off the bounce. He's a big time rim protector defensively with the ability to switch and guard smaller guys. If he gets beat by one of those smaller guys, he has the foot speed and length to make up the ground and recover. Jeffries will be a late stock soarer when it comes to recruitment, expect big things this season from him at Southern Durham all season long.

Henke is one of the area's most reliable producers regardless of class or position. He's a constant rebounding presence and uses his strength + athleticism to own the glass. He's got good touch around the rim, he can be a bruiser in the post bullying smaller defenders. Henke is also really comfortable playing in Coach Lowman's system. He knows where to be, when to be there, and what to do when there. All of that is super valuable when considering what he is at the next level and many top D3s are prioritizing Landon right now.

Tyrance has just been quietly putting in work at Cary who is off to a 3-1 start to the young season. Tyrance is arguably the best rebounder in the 919 regardless of class. He had 16 rebounds in their lone loss on the year to Enloe including 10 on the O-Glass. Tyrance should continue to garner more and more recruiting attention as he recently picked up an offer from UNC Pembroke. The rebounding, activity, and production of Tyrance will help Cary win a lot of games this season.

We talked a couple of weeks back about Hilldale's game after a really strong weekend at the HoopState 252 Tip-Off and he has continue to help lead Trinity Academy of Raleigh by simply playing his game at a high level. Trinity is 4-0 now after picking up wins over local rivals North Raleigh Christian and Ravenscroft. Hilldale is a versatile front-court piece that can play in a variety of different ways. He competes on the glass, has a great pursuit of the ball, and is comfortable operating in multiple areas on the floor. He can pop or roll off the ball screen, is also comfortable reading the floor and making passes in the short roll. Just a guy that has steadily improved in all aspects over the years and there's no reason to believe that won't continue.
