Who were the top standouts from opening night of the high school basketball season? We give you the best five from Wednesday.

[player_tooltip player_id='2388499' first='Anthony' last='Byrd'] of Hopkins. We have been talking about the Cooper transfer all fall and he made an instant impact scoring on ten of the first 13 points for the game. His final tally was 18 points and ten rebounds including a couple physical two hand dunks in the paint. [player_tooltip player_id='2388499' first='Anthony' last='Byrd'], one of the fastest rising seniors we have seen in some time.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140576' first='Carson' last='Deibele'] of Monticello. The Magic completely ravaged Rogers with a 66-31 win starting out with a 39-13 lead at the half. Deibele is a shooter and he did that on his way to 27 points on opening night. But he also finished off a lob at the rim that is going around on the internet. Great start for the 6'4, 185 pound junior.

Owen Dotterweich of Bethlehem Academy. The junior guard is coming off of a nice sophomore season that became all league honors but few noticed because BA only won two games. Owen kicked his season off with 27 points as one of four BA players in double figures as they beat Rochester STEM by 18 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1550877' first='Jayden' last='Moore'] of Hopkins. In the Royal 83-66 win over White Bear Lake the North Dakota signed point guard had a team high number of 19 points and he dished out nine assists. WBL put up a nice fight but they didn't have a player to get in front of Moore and his playmaking.

Jordan Moss of Hope Academy. Hope Academy earned an 86-44 win over Math and Science on Wednesday led by the 28 points and 11 rebounds from Moss until he took an early second half seat. Moss is a junior leader on a Hope Academy team that continues to have strong expectations.
