These are the fifteen class of 2028 guards to keep an eye on in Central Pennsylvania this winter, in alphabetical order.

Arp is as smooth a scorer that you'll find in Central Pennsylvania, let alone the rest of the state. After a nice freshman campaign at Bishop McDevitt, Damir transferred to Harrisburg where he'll be asked to do a lot more. That bodes well for the Cougars and the talented young guard who has been working hard in the off-season while impressing over the summer. He's quick with the ball and gets to the basket in a blur. His shooting stroke is pure and will only continue to become more consistent. The future is bright for Harrisburg with Damir at the helm.

Boyne will be a player to monitor going into his sophomore season with East Pennsboro. With great upside, Jayson has already proven to be a reliable ball handler who can create for himself or others. He's got a great feel of where and when to cut, as well as when to make the extra pass. Jayson has the potential to be a really good defender, as he plays on that end with massive effort. He can stay in front of the ball and gets in the passing lanes frequently.

Lebanon Area High School has a rich basketball history, however they've had multiple winless seasons in the past few years. Franco-Suarez is a sign of good fortune, as he led the Cedars to seven wins in just his freshman year. The talented lead guard can score from all three levels. He's immensely confident with the ball in his hands and can get his teammates involved when necessary. Derek can light up the scoreboard both in the half-court and transition. With last year as a strong indication, Franco is going to become one of the best guards in the state with more experience under his belt.

Harper had an excellent postseason run, playing crucial minutes as a freshman en route to a District 3 4A championship. He scored double digits in multiple state playoff games, an impressive feat for such a young player, especially given he shares the ball with upperclassman teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1588135' first='Kingston' last='McKoy']. Berks Catholic is going to be a team to watch as they look to avenge a state title loss. The IQ and playmaking ability from Carmelo will be a big reason why.

Jabron James will play behind multiple talented upperclassmen guards at The Milton Hershey school as a sophomore, however they should win enough ball games to get him plenty of experience. He has been a great ball handler for Central PA Elite and will continue to be another talented guard for the program. Bronny can finish with both hands and constantly plays off two feet. He's proving to be a reliable shooter from deep and has also developed a nice mid-range game.

With a super high motor and continually improving athleticism, Kurtz will be a player to keep an eye on in the coming years. He excels getting to the basket where he can finish in a variety of ways, using his enhancing vertical to attack the rim. He has proven to be consistent knocking down shots off the catch and can be expected to improve his pull-up game. He currently makes his biggest impact by being an aggressive defender and working relentlessly to track down loose balls.

Mercado is going to be one of the best players in the Reading area for the next few years. The talented guard can score from all three levels and does so with immense composure. He attacks the basket with physicality and has a variety of finishing moves. Perhaps his greatest attribute is his isolation play, as NeChar will go at your best defender one-on-one without hesitation. With his diverse skillset, Mercado has the potential to be the next great guard from Wilson.

Noon is headed to Conestoga Valley after spending his freshman year at Middletown. He will be a nice addition for the Buckskins, especially on the defensive end. Kylinn takes pride in defending a team's best player, something he has shown to do well. In addition to great effort and attitude, he can also be a really good rebounder from the guard position. As he continues to improve offensively, Noon will be a player to watch for years to come.

Chase has the potential to be a very good lead guard for State College in the coming future. He has a very tight handle and is adept at creating separation with a quick crossover. His change of pace is impressive, both in the half-court and transition. He's shown to be great driving left and should improve attacking the other side. Court vision and basketball IQ may be his greatest attributes thus far. If he develops a consistent jumper, Rhoades will be one of the best guards in the Mid-Penn.

Romero is an intriguing guard prospect for York after a solid season as a freshman. He has proven to be a reliable shooter from the perimeter in addition to being a great rebounding guard. Yoziah has shown off his great strength both as a rebounder and a driver to the basket. His ability to get downhill is the best of his skillset thus far, but Romero is only going to develop all around as he steps into a larger role this winter.

Salisbury is one of the most talented sophomores in all of Pennsylvania. After an impressive freshman season at Conestoga Valley, the scoring guard is now enrolled at J.P. McCaskey, where he will play under his father, Dustin. Demere is excellent getting downhill and finishing at the basket. He also has a nice mid-range game paired with an improving 3-point shot. With the ability to score from all three levels, Salisbury will be a must watch as the new lead guard for McCaskey.

Sallie is poised to be one of the best players in the entire state. After a standout freshman campaign at Big Spring, he continued with an impressive AAU season with both Central PA Elite and Team Melo. The talented playmaker can score from all three levels, with his shot-making hard to slow down once he begins heating up. Landon has very deep range and is super savvy with the ball in his hands. Get your popcorn ready for a highly anticipated sophomore season.

York Country Day was upset in the District 3 1A semifinals a season ago and then faced the eventual state runner-up in a tough first round PIAA state playoff game, a tough way to lose your only two games of the season after starting 21-0. With Slaughter coming in a year older with a great off-season behind him, the Greyhounds are set to get back on track to compete for a championship. Elijah uses his long frame to be a pesky defender, as he racks up steals and blocks at a consistent rate. He's good when attacking the basket and has a nice pull-up game. As he continues to expand his range and becomes a three-level scorer, Slaughter will be a name to look for in the coming season.

Yet another talented young guard who is primed for success at Wilson is Lynden Westbrook. His tight handle leads to the ability to create separation and score in a multitude of ways. He's got serious wiggle that you cannot just teach a player. Lynden has shown to excel playing off a ball-screen and making the correct read. As he gets older and becomes more efficient, Westbrook will be a name to look for in the Reading area.

Williams is one of the most versatile athletes in the entire state, as the dual-sport combo guard, quarterback, and wide receiver is without a doubt the most athletic player on any court or field he touches. He's a great on-ball defender who's also constantly infiltrating passing lanes, which then shows his speed getting out in transition. With the potential to be a consistent 3-level scorer, Tevin has tremendous upside and is a guard to keep an eye on in 2028.
