Texas Freshman Showcase: Team 3 Top Performers

On September 14th in Lake Dallas, the Texas Freshman Showcase showcased talented freshmen. Each team had the chance to showcase their skills to a large audience of scouts. In this article, I'll highlight the standout performers from Team 3, who made significant contributions to both sides of the ball.    [player_tooltip player_id='2899093' first='Dash' last='Hovind'] demonstrated his exceptional ball-handling skills, effectively maneuvering the ball up and down the court. While handling the ball, Dash actively involved his teammates in the offense. He made significant contributions by shooting the ball well from the perimeter after catching the ball. Throughout the day, Dash consistently demonstrated his ability to quickly become a valuable teammate.     [player_tooltip player_id='2778919' first='Caiden' last='McWright'] is a freshman guard out of Humble High School that boasts a strong frame for his position. This frame enables him to create space between himself and his defenders inside the paint while maneuvering downhill in both the open floor and half-court. Additionally, when handling the ball, he effectively creates pull-up opportunities, often converting a significant number of them. With the potential for varsity-level height and frame, Caiden has a great opportunity to further enhance his game over time.     Jaeden Hanley showcased his offensive prowess during the Texas Freshman Showcase. He was incredibly aggressive, often taking the ball downhill and making quick decisions. His shooting was impressive, both off the dribble and off the catch, as he capitalized on numerous opportunities. Defensively, Jaeden was active, generating steals on the ball and in passing lanes. He clearly has the potential to be a special player.     [player_tooltip player_id='2966656' first='Collin' last='Gloede'] played a significant role in ensuring the longevity of possessions by aggressively seeking loose ball opportunities, often on both ends of the court. His overall play style made a notable impact, as he was already playing alongside skilled scorers throughout the showcase. Offensively, he skillfully set numerous screens for ball handlers, providing them with the freedom to operate effectively and generating scoring opportunities for his team.     [player_tooltip player_id='2926233' first='Jacob' last='Richard'] was a high-usage player for his team during the Texas Freshman Showcase, creating numerous opportunities for himself off the dribble. When he makes shots, he goes on streaks of offensive consistency, making him a threat on that side of the ball. Offensively, he demonstrated a strong ability to shoot from the perimeter and create driving opportunities for himself, ultimately converting points at the rim. I particularly enjoyed the way he approached the showcase on Sunday!     Kejhan Johnson was a high-energy player who consistently posed a threat in the interior, converting numerous opportunities under the basket. He demonstrated his ability to rebound the ball effectively on both ends of the court and defend at the rim. After rebounds, he often took the ball coast to coast, sometimes converting his own fast break points. Occasionally, Kejhan would finish through contact from opposing players, showcasing his strength and focus to finish offensive plays.
