Queen City Clash- Play-making Floor Generals 14U

The point guards came to play over the weekend. These young men showed how the position of "floor general" showed be played.    Efrain is a tough minded guard who played fearless over the weekend. In my opinion, this young man was the best ball handler in the tournament. Watching Efrain dribble was like seeing the basketball on a string. Opposing defenders had a hard time generating turnovers from him. I can't count the amount of times Efrain made plays by getting into the paint. His lane penetration led to scores at the rim or kick-out passes to open teammates on the perimeter. He's an unselfish pass-first point guard who always looked to setup his teammates for success. In some instances, Efrain scored tough baskets and led the way during fast-break opportunities. He excelled at pushing the pace and setting up Unit 14U players with nice dimes cutting to the basket. Defensively, he's great at pressing opposing guards into careless mistakes. He was able to force three steals by using quick hands and great footwork. Keep working Efrain!!     Kamaree was the clear-cut floor leader of the Wildcat Select squad. He has a great handle of the basketball. Kamaree easily broke down opposing defenses and made plays for his team. Whenever he attacked the lane, either he scored or dished off passes to his teammates. As the team leader in assists, Kamaree always found the open man cutting to the basket or along the perimeter. Most of his assists were converted into scores. Kamaree is a strong guard who often finished scores through contact. He converted multiple three-point play opportunities from the foul-line throughout the game. Kamaree showed the ability to knock down mid-range shots. During the game, there was a sequence where he nailed three consecutive shots from the perimeter. Kamaree has the skills to beat defenses in a variety of ways. On defense, he forced multiple turnovers with tough on-ball pressure. Keep it up Kamaree!!     This young man is a shooter who plays hard. As soon as Timothy stepped into the game, he was firing on all cylinders! I've always had an appreciation for smaller players. Well, Timothy is no exception. He is definitely the Wildcat Select's three-point weapon. He always found ways to get open for clean looks at the basket. His teammates made it a point to set screens and run plays to setup Timothy for open shots. During the game I watched this little guy nail four threes. Some were contested shots where Timothy used a step-back move to have a clean look at the rim. Of course, he swished the shot and got the "Boom!" reaction from his teammates. This young guy is also a great passer. Many of his assists were flashy and always found the open player. He's an excellent defender who harassed opposing guards into mistakes. His quick hands made handling the ball difficult for the opposition. Keep shooting Timothy!!     Bentley is a shifty point guard who excelled at handling the basketball. He has the dribbling skills to break down most defenses. Especially, in one-on-one match-ups against opposing defenders. There were countless times during the game when Bentley easily took his opponent off the dribble and made plays in the paint. Either he finished with a lay-up or dished off assists for easy scores at the rim. The majority of his passes were converted into scores for his teammates. Bentley is a great facilitator of the basketball. He led his team in assists and overall floor leadership. Bentley ran the Kentucky Future Elite offense with precise passing and great decision making. He's a good shooter who had no issues knocking down shots from mid or long-range. In the game I watched, he nailed three three-pointers along with a host of shots on the perimeter. Bentley is the prototypical "floor general" who showed his effectiveness as a play-maker. Lead the way Bentley!!     Dallas showed every trait an elite guard should have. After watching this young man play, I saw a leader who always had the [program_tooltip program_id='2320052' first='All' last='Ohio Red'] EYBL team in winning situations. Dallas excelled at creating plays off the dribble and staying in communication with his teammates. He's a great ball handler who attacked defenders and scored tough baskets. Some of his drives led to him being fouled. He calmly stepped to the foul-line and converted the free-throw for a three-point play. Dallas had a serious knack for drawing in the defense whenever he penetrated the lane. This led to a number of assists to other players for easy scores. He's a serious play-making "floor general" who led his squad in assists throughout the tournament. Dallas also makes perimeter shots and plays elite man-to-man defense. He was great at playing the pass lanes and causing turnovers. This young man is definitely a winner! He led his team to the 14U Championship as the team's catalyst of the offense. Keep it up Dallas!!     Jaden has above average ball-handling ability. I truly appreciated the toughness of this little guy! Jaden was in constant "attack mode" whenever he was on the floor. Despite being one of the smallest players on the court, Jaden showed no fear as he drove strong to the basket. He showed all the necessary traits needed to run his position at a high level. Jaden ran the team offense with precision. He excelled at getting his teammates in positions to be successful. The vocal leadership he displayed on the court showed his position as the team's "floor general." During fast-breaks Jaden showed the capability of making plays that led to easy scores for his [program_tooltip program_id='2320052' first='All' last='Ohio Red'] teammates. Jaden plays with an aggressive style on the defensive side of the ball. He's great at playing pass lanes and generating turnovers. Jaden displays traits of being a solid defender. He's an excellent all-around point guard who has a bright future in high school basketball. Keep balling Jaden!!
