Ohio Freshman Showcase: Team 7 Standouts

The Ohio Freshman Showcase was a great event to see some of the top 2028 prospects from around Ohio come to compete in front of our scouts to get some early exposure before the high school season. In this article we'll break down the standouts from Team 7!    Delaney was a physical presence in the paint who did a nice job rebounding at both ends of the court. Whether it was getting extra possessions for his team or finishing a defensive stop, Delaney was a force in the paint. As a scorer, Delaney mostly scored in the paint waiting for dump off passes and rolling to the rim.     Ross knocked down a handful of 3-pointers and also got out in transition to score. I liked how hard Ross played at both ends As a driver, Ross used the euro step and also went into contact. Ross looked like a prospect who will have the chance to be a key impact player in the CMAC as an upperclassmen.     Taylor moves like a dude. One of the more raw prospects at the camp, it was easy to see the vision to Taylor becoming one of the better players from the camp down the road. I was really intrigued with some of the ball handling ability and transition offense. When his body is able to naturally add weight and muscle as he matures, Taylor could combine his height and perimeter ability to become a high level player, I also don't think Taylor is done growing. Every player is running their own race and Taylor has a chance to win the long game if he continues to work hard.     The best passer I caught at the freshman showcase, Saxton tossed some high level dimes on Sunday. When driving lanes closed for him to score, Saxton usually made the right read to a shooter or cutter. A very small point guard, Saxton has shocking explosiveness as he almost tipped dunked a missed shot. As a scorer, I was most impressed with Saxton's left handed finishing ability at the rim, a key skill for undersized guards. Saxton will be a name to watch in central Ohio's 2028 class.     Roark impressed me on both ends of the court on Sunday. His active defense was a refreshing sight to see as he forced a few turnovers and made opposing ball handlers uncomfortable numerous times with his on ball defense. Offensively, Roark had some tough pull-up jumpers flashing the ability to create for himself and hit contested shots. He also had a couple jumpers bounce around the rim before falling in, showing off his natural shooting touch. One of the few players at the event who did a bit of everything, Roark was one of my favorite players to watch.
