Key Players

Devon is a sharpshooter with range and will be counted on to play a more significant role in his team’s point production. He is solely the leader of this team as he enters his senior season. He is a playmaker who can create his own shot and create for teammates. The question surrounding Devon is whether he can get Clay to the BJCC. Clay will need him to be a leader on and off the floor.

Victor is a Point Forward who is a three-level scorer with very good playmaking skills. He can score in a variety of ways, and Coach Chris believes he is one of the most underrated players in the state. He is very versatile on offense, but his versatility can also be seen on the defensive end, as he can defend multiple positions.

With Kevin Kirk graduating, Aces is the next man up to be the floor general for the Cougars program. He has game-changing quickness and lives in the paint, as he is very difficult to contain off the bounce. He makes good decisions with the rock in his hands when he is attacking off the bounce. He can find open teammates or finish with craftiness at the rim. His play is going to be vital.
Coaches Corner
I spoke with Coach Richardson and asked him about two players he is interested in seeing how they perform in June, and he mentioned Demar Hinton Demar Hinton 6'3" | SG Clay-Chalkville | 2027 AL (6’3/SG), a sharpshooter from the perimeter with positional size. The second player Coach Richardson is looking forward to seeing is Cartier Barnes (6’1, SG), who is off-guard and a crafty scorer off the bounce. Coach hopes Cartier can provide scoring when teams look to take the ball out of Devon’s hands.
Coach Richardson is looking for June to be a time his team can pick up where they left off from last season, as Coach Chris has five guys returning who played critical minutes on a 20+ win team last season. There is not going to be much tinkering with this squad, as they will continue to play uptempo offensively and be a very aggressive defensive team. Despite returning five players with experience, Coach Chris still wants to use the month of June to help build team chemistry and gauge offseason development.
