I wouldn’t want it any other way, from circuit teams looking for extra run to independents hungry to make a name this weekend had it all. Here’s a look at my 17u 2nd team from the weekend. Note, if your roster wasn’t submitted I may have missed a couple players. Also these selection are strictly based on performances from this weekend.
6’2 2025 Emil Woods Emil Woods 6'3" McKinney North | 2025 TX had a bunch of those he’s him moments this weekend. Big guard, college ready frame. Super versatile being able to guard multiple positions, tough defender on the perimeter. His frame allows him to finish over and through contact at the rim and he can really shoot it when he heats up knocking down multiple triples during hot streaks this weekend. This is a guy who moved up high up on my prospect list and should be a must catch for coaches.
2027, yes I said 2027 5’11 combo guard Emiliano Henderson Emiliano Henderson 5'11" Roosevelt | 2027 TX also put on a show this weekend doing a little of everything for San Antonio’s DBA squad. Active guard, impacts the game in all areas as I was looking through footage I pretty much caught him in every clip jmaking a play. Good in transition, even better in the half court offense. He was able to knock down mid range pull ups and tough layups all weekend leading his undersized team to some big wins. He finishes everything around the rim and is a dog on defense. Overall his effort was unmatched this weekend and he may be the most slept on 2027 guard in the state performing at such a high level as only a freshman.
6’3 2025 Jamarri Simpson out of Oklahoma got busy this weekend. Long pro style type guard he’s a unique prospect that can score with or without the ball. He finished some tough layups near the rim using his length. He can also shoot the 3 and showed some lockdown defender vibes as well. I watch him under pressure handle the ball well and he was able to penetrate and make the right pass as well. He plays hard and overall is a radar caliber type prospect.
6’2 2025 Mason Geddeswas was overall impressive this weekend in some tough head to head matchups. He’s a quick quart with a nice build that screams confidence when attacking the basket. He operates the offense like a pro always making the right decisions in the moment. Defensively he got after it, playing passing lanes, harassing the ball and creating transition opportunities. Make sure to have him on your watchlist this summer.
6’5 2024 Peter Serunjoji Peter Serunjoji 6'5" | SF Mansfield Summit | 2024 State TX was a defensive forced all by himself this weekend. I’ve never seen anyone quite control the paint like he does. Super athletic, he blocked 5/6 shots game and some of them were just plain disrespectful. On top of being a defensive force he contributed heavy on the offensive end as well finishing anything around rim through contact.
2024 combo guard Isaac Uribe was a fresh face for me that was solid solid throughout the weekend. Starting with his shooting, he knocked down 7/8 triples in the 2 games I caught him against elite teams. He brought a spark to the Beast Elite team dropping nearly 20 points against a loaded Impact squad. He plays well off ball and can knock it down catch and shooting or off the dribble. He’s also tough driving the lane with a short pull up being his go to. Defensively he was solid on the perimeter as well able to create some transition off of steals. He’s definitely a player to have on your radar this summer.
