Kansas players held their own among the 26 teams in the 17U division at the Jayhawk Jam in Lawrence Saturday. It's a great test of their ability against this level of competition, particularly for those who played up against older opponents..

Here are five Kansans who shined in the 17U category on day one of the Jayhawk Jam (in alphabetical order):

[player_tooltip player_id='1939374' first='Brady' last='Collar'], 6-foot-3 guard, 2025, Olathe West, Kruse Elite Gold:

It was no surprise that Collar was one of the top performers on Saturday. The Olathe West playmaker demonstrated why he's going to be one of the top seniors in Kansas City next year. He went off on Saturday, turning in one of the most impressive games in a loss to a team from Oklahoma. Collar was relentless getting to the goal, finishing from all varieties of angles. He is a fearless attacker of defenses off the bounce, and has a great combination of length, spring and creativity.

[player_tooltip player_id='2412030' first='Kaden' last='Hardy'], 6-foot-1 guard, 2025, Holcomb, Magic Basketball Bule:

The Magic Blue team really impressed, taking it to opponents despite having just five (then later six) players on Saturday. Everyone on the floor could handle the ball, but taking on a lot of the ball handling and direction of the offense was Hardy. He's a long point guard who is always calm and under control, yet pushes it at a brisk pace. He's a lefty who can hit shots, but his forte is playing with his eyes up and getting it to scorers.

[player_tooltip player_id='2314796' first='Adrian' last='Hernandez'], 6-foot-3 forward, 2024, Hesston, CM3T Guardians 2025:

Hernandez used the Jayhawk Jam to remind us all why he was such a special senior this year. He dominated the action on Saturday, finishing expertly around the rim, handling the ball and getting buckets at a high rate. He was one of the top scorers on Saturday, relentlessly attacking the goal. He combines size, power and veteran know-how. He pushes the ball end-to-end, he runs the floor, battles for every opportunity, and when he occasionally misses, he often puts back his own miss.

[player_tooltip player_id='2415034' first='Colin' last='Pittman'], 6-foot-2 guard, 2025, Turner, KC Lakers:

Pittman is an interesting player to watch because of his unselfishness and willingness to move the ball and make the easy pass. He isn't loafing, he's just playing the game very intelligently. He's a big guard (could be considered a small forward) with a of athleticism. He handles the ball very well and gets it to teammates. He doesn't make mistakes or hurt his team. He just makes good plays.

Lucas Shrader, 6-foot-5 forward, 2025, Maranatha Christian Academy, LTD Light Blue:

A guy who really popped was the long forward from Shawnee, Kansas. He has a great combo of length, ball skills and attitude. He doesn't back down from defenses and is always ready to pull the trigger from deep or try to dribble into a shot. He passes unselfishly, can handle the ball and runs the floor. Shrader is long enough to grab a lot of boards and intimidate shooters.

Kansas players held their own among the 26 teams in the 17U division at the Jayhawk Jam in Lawrence Saturday. It's a great test of their ability against this level of competition, particularly for those who played up against older opponents..
