Jayhawk Jam Coverage: Southeast Kansas Prospects

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Prep Hoops Circuit stopped in Lawrence this weekend for the Jayhawk Jam.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I scouted a 15U pool pay game in which the Runnin' Bulls 2027, a club team from Southeast Kansas, earned a 52-42 victory over Legacy Youth Basketball, a team from Oklahoma.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here is a look at five prospects who impressed me with their play in the action at the Lawrence Sports Pavilion.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2396102' first='Tyler' last='Warner']</strong>, 6'3”, F, Southeast</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Warner had the most impressive game for the Bulls. He is an all-around game that will play at the varsity level and perhaps collegiately. He finished with seven points, seven rebounds, and four steals in the win. He is a grinder who wants to rebound. He is a plus defender in the paint and has a high ceiling.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2366275' first='Christian' last='Krogen']</strong>, 6'1”, F, Pittsburg</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Pittsburg Purple Dragons have some young studs coming up the ranks. Krogen was one of three Pittsburg prospects I enjoyed watching. Krogen is a nice ball-handler and likes to drive the ball. He works hard to get good rebounding position and understands how to box out. He scored four points, cleaned the boards for seven rebounds, and added two steals. I think he needs to work on his upper body strength if he wants to play forward in college.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2395949' first='Landyn' last='Jessee']</strong>, 5'1o”, SG, Pittsburg</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jessee is a sharp-shooting guard from deep. He made six 3-point field goals. If he has time and space he has a dead-eye. Like most shooters, if you get a hand in his face or rush him, it impacts his shot. He is a bit too one-dimensional right now. He needs to look to drive the ball and pass more often. Like most young players he needs to hit the weights and improve his defensive skills.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2394651' first='Jamarcus' last='Davis']</strong>, 5'0”, PG, Pittsburg</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Davis is a high-energy guard. He did not shoot the ball well during the first half but picked up his game in the second. He scored 11 points and can score from three levels. He enjoys driving the ball and works hard on the defensive end of the floor. He is a strong kid who looks like he lives in the weight room.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2396143' first='Caleb' last='Grant']</strong>, 5'10”, SF, Baxter Springs</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Grant is a quiet player, but adds solid depth to the Bulls squad and I am sure will be a future starter at Baxter Springs. The young lion scored five points, including a 3-pointer. He needs to work on his shot selection and perhaps look to score more often.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
