Hustle Region Classic – Intriguing Big Men

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The PrepHoops Circuit kicked off this weekend at sites around the country and the Hustle Region Classic at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA had plenty of competitive action. There weren't a ton of big men at the event, but here are a few that caught our eye.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2055470' first='Seth' last='Johnson'] (2025 Tigard/Team P.A.C.E. Black)</strong> - Continuing to develop in all phases of the game, Johnson flashed some of his immense big man potential at the Hustle Region Classic. He ran the floor, was extremely competitive on the boards, and was arguably one of the top shot blockers the entire weekend. Johnson played this past season at Rosemary Anderson Prep but will be returning to Tigard for his senior season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2205001' first='Luke' last='Jarussi'] (2025 Valley Catholic/[program_tooltip program_id='2362747' first='Oregon' last='Premier'] 2025)</strong> - Jarussi had his moments this past weekend. The 6-foot-6 lefty battled underneath for a number of rebounds and putbacks, and did a really good job of running the floor and getting back on defense. This spring and summer will be one to watch for the rising senior as he gets accustomed to the play style of [program_tooltip program_id='2362747' first='Oregon' last='Premier'].</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Kingston Gonzalez (2025 Moreau Catholic-CA/Off the Dribble 2025)</strong> - Gonzalez didn't get a ton of touches, but when he did he certainly put his rugged 6-foot-5 frame to use. The rising senior showed off good footwork and a number of moves in the paint along with a pretty soft touch around the hoop. He wasn't afraid to get physical on the boards or on defense either.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Zaire White (2027 James Logan-CA/Off the Dribble 2026)</strong> - While there appears to be some more development needed on the offensive end, there's no question that White exudes potential with his 6-foot-4 height and frame that could put on more weight and muscle - especially for a Class of 2027 prospect. He worked hard to get position inside for rebounds and utilized his length to defend the rim.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2393233' first='Eric' last='Turner'] (2027 Tualatin/Fly Academy 2027)</strong> - While he may not end up being a post player depending on how much he grows from his currently listed 6-foot-2 height, Turner was certainly effective this past weekend in the lane. He finished through contact and did a nice job rebounding on both ends and standing his ground defensively. When given the chance he stepped out and showed a nice looking face-up jumper.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Zayne Latham (2027 La Center-WA/Pro Tech 2026)</strong> - Playing at the 15U level, Latham was a man amongst boys physically. While there's no doubt his huge presence was in and of itself plenty to handle for opponents, he ran the floor well, nailed some open jumpers, and some ball skills as well. It should be interesting to watch him develop both skill-wise and physically from his current 6-foot-3 height.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
