Here’s a look at part one of some of the many standouts from the event.
Jordan Clayton | 6’1″ PG | Dinwiddie
Clayton set the tone early and kept it going all camp long with his ability to both score it and make plays for others. The All State guard showed his quick first step to get by defenders and got the rim where he finishes well and made good kick outs and dump offs as well. He scored it from all three levels, showed good instincts defensively and was very competitive throughout the camp.
Jaron Walker | 6’1” PG | William Fleming
Walker is another All State player who is way too far under the radar, as he was possibly the most gifted scorer in attendance. The 6’1” guard showed his smooth handle and good balance to create space off the bounce, and he drilled shots consistently from all over the floor. He can really drill it from deep, has a good bag as a crafty finisher and he efficiently fills it up in bunches.
Jamari Garnett Jamari Garnett 6'3" | SG Life Christian Academy | 2024 State VA | 6’3” SG | Life Christian Academy
Garnett has been one of the top players in the Richmond area over the last few years, and he was fantastic at the camp with his aggressive style of play on both ends. He is a strong guard who gets downhill and has the athleticism and strength to play through contact and finish above the rim. He can knock down shots from deep, gets to spots in the midrange and is a versatile defender as well.
Maurice Davis Maurice Davis 6'5" | SF James River | 2024 State VA | 6’4” F | James River
Davis is the type of player who you wouldn’t think would stand out in a camp setting because of his unselfishness but that’s exactly why he did stand out. The 6’4” forward can play all over the floor and he has great feel with the ball in his hands and good ball skills for someone his size. He made great passes, defended guys of all positions and showed good touch in the midrange and around the rim.
Lenair Young | 6’4” SG | LC Bird
Young came seemingly out of nowhere to help lead LC Bird to the state championship game and earned All State honors in doing so, and he was fantastic at the camp as well. At 6’4” he has great size on the wing and was one of the best shooters in the camp drilling shots at a very high clip. He gets his feet set well and understands spacing, has effortless form and range and he uses his length to rebound and make plays defensively too.
Dakota Sellers Dakota Sellers 6'4" | SG Carmel | 2024 State VA | 6’4” SF | Carmel School
Sellers was perhaps the best athlete in attendance, showing his explosive leaping ability and good versatility to his game as well. The 6’4” wing had some highlight reel finishes above the rim, getting out in transition and punishing rims when he got the opportunity. He made shots off the catch from deep, was an excellent rebounder and showed improvement in his ball skills as well.
