2/24/24: Daniel dumped in 19 first-half points in an elimination game against Warren Central. Brentwood played very well the last two weeks to put themselves in a favorable position Saturday night. They earned the right to host a game, something formerly red-hot Franklin High did not. Cochran, signed to University of Chicago basketball, finished a left-handed layup with crafty footwork to end the half. His team lead 31-24 at that point. Halfway through the third quarter he lifted his scoring total to 24 points with a timeout-inspiring three-pointer. Before the third quarter wrapped, the senior already boasted 30 points. Warren County, to that point, had 32. Cochran could not miss. More frustrating for the opposition, he did not take bad or hurried shots.
“He did a great job of scoring at all three levels,” said Coach Bond. “We did a good job of getting him the basketball too.”
“He is not a high-volume shooter,” said BHS Head Coach Bond after the win, when asked about his wonderful efficiency. “He does a great job of maintenance as far as percentages go. He does a great job on the bounce the rim. He will get you with a pull-up. He will find you on your heels and hit a three-pointer on you.”
2/24/24: Independence did not a full game from Jett Montgomery Jett Montgomery 6’1″ | PG Independence | 2024 State TN , Tylan Lewis Tylan Lewis 6’2″ | PG Independence | 2025 State TN , and the starters to get by Lincoln County. It was a mismatch from the jump and Jett finished with 13 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds in just a little over two quarters of play.

2/24/24: “Sam Mewborn was instrumental,” said Franklin Head Coach Jason Tigert later in the evening. “He is a good defensive rebounder at the 2-guard spot. He took a huge charge for us. He had a couple of blocks for us. He is a sharpshooter and teams really try to take him away.” Mewborn finished with eight rebounds.
2/24/24: “Christian had 23 points, 12 rebounds. 8-10 FG,” reported Coach Tigert later in the evening via phone. “Davis Long with 16 points, 6 assists. 3 rebounds. Gil Jones 11 points. 6-6 FT.”
“We didn’t start well,” said Coach Tigert.” “The third period, we started really hurting them really bad with the two-man game with Christian and Davis [Long]. I felt really good after the first couple minutes of the third quarter.”
“Out of the two-man game, Christian ended up with three assists in that period.”
