Timberlake put on the single best scoring display of Sunday- scoring 42 in a close loss to Thurgood Marshall Academy. The undersized combo guard has a smooth stroke and quick release. He also understands how to cut and move off ball to get himself free. It’s going to be an interesting Spring for one of Long Island’s most dynamic scorers.
Highlights
Another undersized lead guard who can really score and shoot it, Johnson went for 36 in Redemption’s win vs Earl Monroe School. He showed that he can put it on the floor and create or make defenses pay from beyond the arc.
Mohamed Bah
Mohamed Bah
Bah was the most efficient player for his team on the day, finishing with 14 of his team’s 37 in their loss vs Newark Eastside (NJ). The way Bah cut and found weak points in the defense was impressive, as was his finishing at the rim.
Flavio Jean
Flavio Jean
Jean is the motor for a Brooklyn Collegiate group that hopes to make some noise in both Borough and City playoffs starting next week. He shot it really well from deep to start, going 3-for-4 early in the game and finishing with 23 points to lead all scorers in the win. The Lions have some talented pieces around him, but it will be Jean that teams key their defenses on moving forward.
Ray Kinnard
Ray Kinnard
Kinnard has been the floor general for the Earl Monroe School all season and it’s easy to see why. A smooth guard with good command of the game and dependable jumper out to 18 feet, Kinnard rarely seemed bothered or sped up by opposing defenders. He plays with good poise and balance and it will be fun to continue to see how he develops
Terrell Hood
Terrell Hood
Hood went nuclear from beyond the arc- connecting on seven attempts in the first quarter alone. Baldwin did whatever they could to get the ball out of his hands moving forward but Hood still connected on 8 threes en route to 29 points and the win in a shootout vs Timberlake. Small colleges looking for a shooter/scorer type would be wise to catch Hood in the coming weeks.
