Alpharetta (56) vs. Etowah (50)
Alpharetta rallied in the 4th quarter to take down Etowah on the road, a team that many considered to be dangerous. Will Kimes has really come around late in the year and he continued the hot streak on Wednesday night, leading Alpharetta with 20 points. It’s obvious that these seniors aren’t going to go out easily but they’ll have a tough task in the 2nd round with Alexander.
Douglas County (54) vs. Shiloh (41)
Douglas County stunned Shiloh in the first round, taking out a legitimate contender and arguably the best team in the lower left quadrant of the 6A bracket. Douglas County has flown under the radar all year but they won 17 games in the regular season and Wednesday night showed us just how competitive this team can be. Senior guards, Christian Richards and Kory Young Kory Young 6'3" | SG Douglas County | 2024 State GA , will need to step up again on Saturday if they want to slow down Pope’s backcourt.
Westover (63) vs. Fayette County (60)
Westover made the long trip up to Fayette County on Wednesday night and stunned the 1-seed. Bryson Carter and Aden Reese combined for 38 of Westover’s 63 points, outshining a Fayette County backcourt that is well-respected. A number of people predicted that Fayette County would make the final four. Now that path belongs to Westover and everything is in front of them.
Dawson County (56) vs. Adairsville (48)
Despite losing Tre Winters Tre Winters 6'5" | SG Adairsville | 2025 State GA midseason, Adairsville put together an 18-win season but their parade came to a quick stop on Wednesday night when Dawson County came into their place and pulled off the upset. Dawson County has had an up and down year but they showed a lot of heart in the 1st round and proved they can’t be taken lightly. However, they’ll have their hands full with Douglass in the second round.
Bleckley County (46) vs. Woodville-Tompkins (44)
Bleckley County vs. Woodville-Tompkins may have been the most entertaining game of the first round. Jonathon Pickering Jonathon Pickering 6'3" | SG Woodville-Tompkins | 2025 State GA hit the go-ahead layup for Woodville-Tompkins with seconds left on the clock, only for Caleb Farrow to come back and hit the game-winning three at the buzzer. Woodville-Tompkins was one of the best teams in 1A-D1 all year long but the spotlight is now on Bleckley County as they look to make a deep run.
