#81 Andrew Thomas Andrew Thomas 6'5" | C MHEA | 2024 State TN (MHEA)
Center Andrew Thomas Andrew Thomas 6'5" | C MHEA | 2024 State TN is enjoying a fantastic season.
“His biggest strength is that he is so big and strong,” said MHEA Head Coach Justin Williams. “He controls the game with his physicality and plays like ‘I am going to box out and go get the ball at its highest point.'”
Thomas benefits from teaming up with Robert Dawkins Robert Dawkins 6'6" | C MHEA | 2024 State TN this year, according to Coach Williams. “We force a lot of mismatches and his size and strength [combined] is just so hard to stop.”
“[player_tooltip player_id='2321821' first='Robert' last='Dawkins'] has a case for being our MVP this year,” said Coach Williams. “He is about 6’6″ and averaging a double-double.”
MHEA is 19-11 on the season.
#82 Alex Akard Alex Akard 6'9" | PF Maryville | 2024 State TN (Maryville)
Alex Akard Alex Akard 6'9" | PF Maryville | 2024 State TN is another post player. Great size for the position. Akard is a powerful two-foot leaper. Ran with the Tennessee Tigers 17u in summer 2023. Akard can get even more explosive in the legs as he exits Maryville High and enters college in the fall.

Alex attended the PrepHoopsTN Combine in June 2022. At the time I made the comparison to Brad Daugherty (Cavaliers-retired). Akard is a 1990’s big man, in that he does not thrive hovering around the arc and will probably get exposed if asked to switch onto a wing, but he hits the mid-range shot and rebounds with toughness.
#83 Jerrod Mackey Jerrod Mackey 6'4" | SG Memphis Overton | 2024 State TN (Overton)
Transferred from Hillcrest to Overton (Memphis) after his junior season. Jerrod is an active wing, listed as a small forward, but he could play either guard spot in college. Mackey rebounds pretty well. Shooting range is a weakness. Twitchy. Likes to play in an up-tempo system.
#84 Matthew Sharpe Matthew Sharpe 6'1" | SG Chattanooga Central | 2024 State TN (Chattanooga Central)
Sharpe, like Akard, also played AAU with the Tennessee Tigers 17u and head coach Chip Smith. As of January 21st, Matthew is averaging 18.0 points per game.
#85 Bradley Stewart Bradley Stewart 6'2" | PG Independence | 2024 State TN (Independence)
Left-handed guard Bradley Stewart Bradley Stewart 6'2" | PG Independence | 2024 State TN is an unsung component of the Independence High Eagles’ success. Sure, Jett Montgomery Jett Montgomery 6'1" | PG Independence | 2024 State TN and Tylan Lewis Tylan Lewis 6'2" | PG Independence | 2025 State TN deserve all of their accolades. They are both great. Bradley initiates quite a few plays and helps keep the offense crisp. Steady, composed. Strong physically. Stewart can shoot but does not take many. He is a security blanket on a team that does not make many mistakes. Defends his position.
