The mid-season tournament is always a good time to see new opponents and faces and a good measuring stick before playoffs. Now that the mid-season tournament is over let’s look at who stood out and what some of their current season averages are.
Jayden Brown Jayden Brown 5'7" | PG Andover Central | 2025 State KS – The Andover central guard had big shoes to fill this season losing 3 of their premier playmakers and scorers but he has answered any questions the crowd may had. Brown is averaging 20ppg right on the dot and has seen every defensive scheme you could possibly throw at him. One thing you love about Jayden’s game isn’t just his scoring ability or his long range but his ability to make others better and his unselfishness. Jayden knows he’s the focal point and once he draws the attention he’s not afraid to swing it to the open teammate for the open jumper. The junior guard will be a steal for whoever gets him at the college level.
Andrell Burton Andrell Burton 6'4" | SG Campus | 2024 State #213 Nation KS – Burton has been on a tear this year for his senior season. The Drake signee is averaging 27ppg, 13 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block per game doing it all for his campus Colts team. You can almost always anticipate a high-flying dunk being shown on Catch It Kansas on Tuesday and Friday nights with the extreme athleticism he often displays. Andrell recently hit his 1,000 career points pouring in 37 points that night and 40+ earlier in the year. Expect Burton to cause problems for the rest of the league come playoff time.
Kamarri Jennings- The freshman has already had some impressive performances to start his high school career putting up multiple 20 and 30 points in a single game and being double-teamed. At the Bluestem classic, he made the all-tournament team averaging 12ppg, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. With these numbers as a varsity starter, you can only imagine what the next 3 years will look like for the Ark City Bulldogs.
Tj Williams- The shocker signee has been dominating this season with his dunks in transition giving the crowd something to see. The lefty is coming back with a vengeance after losing the championship game last year. He’s showing us he has worked on his jumper has started to shoot the 3 with some consistency and is a great finisher going to either side. What people overlook is the things he does on the defensive end which is where he is really a threat. His 6’4″ frame gives his opponents problems because he’s table guard 1-5 and contests everything from jumpers to layups.
Ethan Koehn Ethan Koehn 6'2" | SF Circle | 2024 State KS – Ethan had a phenomenal showing at the chaparral tournament leading his team to the championship and winning it. His team is currently 11-0 and he is a huge reason for their success. Koehn is putting up 20ppg consistently playing his style of basketball at his pace. He can knock the 3 down and use his physicality to finish around the rim. The experienced senior is looking to take his team far into playoff basketball. Ethan is a bigger guard than his competition right now, giving him a huge advantage on the rebounding side of things. Ethan had 20 points on 80% from the field a week ago and 8 rebounds.
