Gage Mayfield Gage Mayfield 6'6" | PF Hale County | 2026 State AL (6’6/PF/’26/Hale County HS)

Gage makes his debut at the #9 spot in the rankings, and he is one of the most athletically gifted players in the class. Gage thrives in the open court, and that is where a lot of his offense usually comes as he runs the floor like a deer and uses his athleticism to finish plays above the rim. I know I keep mentioning it, but it is because of his athleticism that Gage can do a little bit of everything to aid his team on both ends of the floor. Gage is a fluid mover and highly versatile on both ends and watching him turn his potential into production will be a joy to watch over the next two years.
Jackson Sheffield Jackson Sheffield 6'9" | C Hoover | 2026 State AL (6’9/C/’26/Hoover)

Jackson makes his debut at the #16 spot in the rankings. He continues to improve every time I see him, and I believe a lot of that is due to having to compete against DeWayne Brown every day in practice. Who knows just how good Jackson will be because he still has another year to work with and learn from DeWayne. He is learning to play as strong as he looks, and you can tell his body is starting to develop as he has been in the weight room. If he can transform his body over the next two years, that alone is going to put more eyes on him. He is showing a lot more confidence on the low block and is not afraid to bang and throw his weight around. Defensively, Jackson alters everything around the basket and is developing into a good drop defender with skills that translate into help situations. By the time he steps into his senior year, we might see one of the best bigs in the state.
Chanze Allen Chanze Allen 6'4" | CG Columbia | 2026 State AL (6’4/CG/’26/Columbia)

Chanze makes his debut at the #17 spot in the rankings. He has good positional size and shows a lot of versatility in his game. When engaged defensively, his size and versatility allow him to be a switchable asset guard to guard and on the high school level guard to big. Chanze is a big guard with size and flashes of physicality when finishing tough plays off the bounce. Even though Chanze can make tough shots, sometimes his lack of aggressive play causes him to settle for contested shots and, even worse, spurts where he is non-existent. However, when actively engaged, he impacts the game on both ends of the floor at a high level.

Trey makes his debut at the #23 spot in the rankings, and many believe this will be very short-lived, especially as the team will be in his hands once his older brother graduates. He is one of the best shooters in the class, and his experience on varsity this year has helped improve his speed, physicality, ball-handling, and decision-making. He is on a good trajectory, and don’t be surprised that when we release the ’26 rankings again, that his ranking will be higher.
Caden Steiner Caden Steiner 6'3" | SG Jasper | 2026 State AL (6’3/SG/’26/Jasper HS)

X: @CadenSteiner1
Caden makes his debut at the #24 spot in the rankings. He is one of the hardest-playing guys in the class and does a little bit of everything well. He is a multi-level scorer who attacks inside and out. He fits the Jasper system exceptionally well and is still developing his arsenal, which should worry many future defenders. He has good positional size and can be a defensive match-up problem for smaller guards trying to produce offensively. He has a lot of potential to unlock and is in the right place to get it done.
Antwane Daniels Antwane Daniels 6'2" | CG Auburn | 2026 State AL (6’2CG/’26/Auburn HS)

Antwane makes his debut at the #27 spot in the rankings. He has the pedigree and has been around the game for most of his life, so it is only right to believe that his game will continue to expand. He is getting better at being more aggressive over a more extended period of time throughout games, which improves his game and his team. He functions as a triple-threat player who contributes as a shooter, passer, and driver, yet there are times he leaves me wanting more. Watching his development is going to be an exciting journey because he has all the resources around him to be a very good player.
