The event featured some of the top teams and players from the Southern California area as well as Skyline Prep from Arizona. I was able to attend the event and here’s a look at some of the top point guards I saw.
1. Jordan Farhadian – Palisades 2024
Farhadian did a solid job as the lead guard with the ball in his hands and directing the offense. A good ball-handler able to get to his spots on the court. Sees the floor well and can pass the ball. He’s a good three-point shooter who spots up well and is consistent off the catch. Good relocation after the initial pass.
2. De’Kwon Brown – Skyline Prep 2025
Brown was the consummate floor leader and point guard. Very good with the ball in his hands and running the offense. He keeps his dribble under control and keeps his head up. Pushes the paces well in transition and looks ahead on the break. He can get to the basket and score the ball but his strength is in his unselfishness and playmaking.
3. Tyson Howarth – Moorpark 2027
Howarth is a crafty ball-handler and has advanced skill for a freshman. Consistently was able to get into the paint off the dribble. Can hit the defense with the little floater/runner in the lane. Consistently able to get to the free throw line off contact. Good three point shooter who can attack closeouts well and dribble into the midrange.

– SoCal Academy 2024
Perry was one of the most explosive point guards at the event. Very athletic and strong finisher at the basket. Good ball-handler and good vision in the halfcourt; drawing the defense and kicking the ball to open teammates. Can shoot face up jumpers and the pull-up off the dribble. Very quick with the ball in his hands; decisive.
