Here are five significant risers in the 2024 class rankings. (Note the jump listed indicates how far they rose prior to adding new players to the list):
Micah Deaver Micah Deaver 6'1" | CG Olathe East | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-1 guard, 2024, Olathe East – #13 from #16 (3 spots):
Deaver has been on fire thus far in his senior season. The slasher with a quick lefthanded release, isn’t big, but makes plays in the paint. He’s a slick ball handler who glides in the open court and can create his own shot seemingly at will. He produced a lot of offense as a junior – 14 points and 5 assists per game. He’s knocking down the deep shot and stuffing the stat sheet this year. It’s not easy to move up when you’re near the top of the list, so Deaver’s jump of three spots is significant.
Jacob Fritz Jacob Fritz 6'3" | CG Blue Valley Northwest | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-3 guard, 2024, Blue Valley Northwest – #23 from #58 (25 spots):
There’s been no faster riser in the past year than Fritz. He played a supporting role for the Huskies as a junior, helping them to the state title. He’s ascended to the lead spot of the team as a senior, and now his production is matching his athleticism and high IQ. He’s shooting the lights out and getting a lot of highlight worthy dunks, racking up 20 points per game. Fritz may continue to rise up this list, especially if the Huskies contend for the title again this year.
Jackson Voth Jackson Voth 5'10" | CG Cheney | 2024 State KS , 5-foot-10 guard, 2024, Cheney – #43 from #50 (7 spots):
This guy is not resting on his laurels after leading Cheney to the state football title. He’s too much of a competitor to not get right to work on the court. Even with only a few days to prepare for the season, he’s elevating his stock as the leader of a really good team. Voth is an elite shooter, a gritty gamer and a versatile athlete.
Brax Fisher Brax Fisher 6'1" | PG Abilene | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-1 guard, 2024, Abilene – #78 from #97 (25 spots) (pictured):
Very few guys have grabbed attention with their brilliant start like Fisher has. He’s been consistently in the 20-point category scoring thus far, a big jump for a guy who had been a solid contributor for a couple of years. He’s got surprising speed and spring, which allows him to get runouts and highlights in transition. Best of all, he has the Cowboys clicking with a 7-0 start.
Kreighton Kanitz Kreighton Kanitz 6'2" | SG McPherson | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-2 guard, 2024, Moundridge – #90 from #91 (9 spots):
Although he only moved up one spot once new players were added, Kanitz jumped 8 players to move up 9 slots on the list. His move from McPherson to Moundridge is a significant story in the 2A class. He knows how to win having been a big part of McPherson’s success the past two seasons. He joined a winner at Moundridge and already turned in a stellar football campaign. Kanitz is a big guard who can light it up, can out-muscle a lot of opponents and gives the Wildcats yet another versatile weapon.
