The Burlington County Scholastic League has the potential to make noise over the course of the season as teams have the potential to make a deep run in the postseason. Here are the BCSL guards to watch over the next couple of months.
Javion Cesar-Jones Javion Cesar-Jones 6'3" | PG Trenton Catholic | 2026 State NJ , 6’0 PG Trenton Catholic 2026
Cesar-Jones has taken a step up this season as he’s shown more confidence with the ball in his hands. The 6’0 guard has a good handle, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce and finish around the basket. Cesar-Jones can find his open teammates in the halfcourt and sets his feet before he shoots. He also has the ability to play off the ball and slides his feet well on the defensive end. Cesar-Jones is a gritty guard prospect who should continue to make plays at both ends of the floor this season.
Tre Powell Tre Powell 6'0" | SG Medford Tech | 2024 State NJ , 6’0 SG Medford Tech
Powell is a scoring machine as he has eclipsed 20 points per game over the last two seasons. The 6’0 guard has a lightning quick first step, which he uses to blow by defenders and can finish in a variety of ways around the rim. Powell is more than just a slasher as he has a good release on his jumper and wastes little motion in his shot. He is a strong rebounder for a guard his size and gets deflections on the defensive end. Powell is an electric guard prospect who will lit up the scoreboard for the rest of the season.
Drew Harvey Drew Harvey 5'8" | PG Cinnaminson | 2025 State NJ , 5’8 PG Cinnaminson
Harvey has been the Pirates’ leading scorer this season as he has been torching the nets from distance. The 5’8 guard has a smooth shooting stroke and can knock down triples in bunches. Harvey is unafraid of taking big shots in crunch time and uses his handle to create separation in the halfcourt. He also has the ability to play off the ball and is an underrated defender. Harvey has three 20-point games this season and should have more games like that as the season progresses.
Shakur Anderson Shakur Anderson 6'3" | SG Westampton Tech | 2025 State NJ , 6’3 SG Westampton Tech
Anderson has made an immediate impact in his first season with Westampton Tech as he’s affected the game in a variety of ways. The Burlington City transfer attacks the basket strong as he knows how to finish around the basket. Anderson uses his size to see over his defender and rises up nicely on his jumper. He works hard for rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his length to make an impact on the defensive end. Anderson is a lanky guard prospect who should add to his four double-doubles during the rest of January and February.
Uche Onunkwo Uche Onunkwo 6'3" | CG Florence Township Memorial Highschool | 2026 State NJ , 6’3 CG Florence
Onunkwo has been in a groove recently, averaging 24.3 points per game over his last three games. The 6’3 guard has a good handle, which he uses to get separation from his defender and finish around the rim. Onunkwo is an underrated passer as he can find open teammates in the halfcourt, but can also play off the ball. He can get hot from distance and has the length to guard both backcourt spots. Onunkwo is a lanky, guard prospect who should continue his hot streak over the next couple of weeks.
