The Passaic County Tournament starts off on Thursday and has plenty of prospects that can have big tournaments, especially in the 2024 class. Here are the 2024 prospects to watch in the Passaic County Tournament.
Saif Al-Deen Saleh Saif Al-Deen Saleh 6'8" | C Clifton | 2024 State NJ , 6’8 C Clifton
Al-Deen Saleh has been a force for the Mustangs all season long as he has a double-double in every game this season. The 6’8 post plays with good footwork down low and has a good touch around the basket. Al-Deen Saleh rolls hard to the basket off screens and has a high release on his jumper. He is tough to box off the boards and swats almost everything around the basket. Al-Deen Saleh is a physical post prospect who should continue to impact the paint throughout the course of the season.
Nyreek Clyburn Nyreek Clyburn 6'5" | PF Paterson Eastside | 2024 State NJ , 6’5 PF Paterson Eastside
Clyburn’s collegiate future is on the gridiron, but he has been a standout on the hardwood this season. The Maine football commit has a strong frame, which he uses to get position down low and finishes nicely around the rim. Clyburn rarely forces shots in the halfcourt and sets strong screens in the halfcourt. He fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his athleticism to make plays on defense. Clyburn is a hard-working forward prospect who is looking to capture his second straight Passaic County Tournament title.
Anthony Apicella Anthony Apicella 5'11" | PG Wayne Valley | 2024 State NJ , 5’11 CG Wayne Valley
Apicella has been on a tear since the start of the New Year with five 20-point games in his last six games. The 5’11 guard has a nice handle, which he uses to beat his defender and finish around the rim. Apicella can also score in the mid-range and rarely forces shots in the halfcourt. He can find his open teammates in the halfcourt and moves well without the ball in his hands. Apicella’s ability to play on and off the ball is something that will help his stock in a big way over the next couple of weeks.
Ka’Juan Gee Ka’Juan Gee 6'0" | PG Paterson Charter | 2024 State NJ , 6’0 PG Paterson Charter
Gee has powered the Lions’ attack this season, helping them to a 13-2 record this season. The 6’0 guard has a quick first step, which he uses to blow by his defender off the bounce and can finish in a number of ways around the rim. Gee has a nice touch on his floater and can also make opponents pay for giving him space behind the arc. He can also play off the ball and uses his quick hands to get a deflection on defense. Gee is a scoring guard prospect who should continue to light up the scoreboard in the county tournament.
Lamar Mcqueen, 5’7 PG Paterson Kennedy
Mcqueen has steadied the Knights’ offense this season and should continue to do so in the county tournament. The 5’7 guard uses his handle to create separation from his defender and rarely gets rattled by on-ball pressure. Mcqueen threads passes to his open teammates and finishes nicely around the basket. He has a nice release on his jumper and is an underrated defender. Mcqueen’s ability to run the offense is something that will be key for his development during the Passaic County Tournament.
