Among the craftiest lead ball handlers in the state, Vassar-Steen has been on a tear early on to open up the season. Adept at changing speeds within an instant, the guard has been able to control the halfcourt pace while remaining a scoring threat on all three levels. His efficiency has been a notable development, up to 28 points per game on 55% from the field, following 20.7 last season on 48% from the field.

Rhodes has been excellent within his high volume role for Manzano, particularly productive attacking the rim to draw contact. The guard has done a great job keeping the handle live versus contact, maintaining positioning and balance to stay a threat. His three point effieicny has helped open up driving lanes, overall showing his impact as a well rounded offensive scoring threat.

Gonzales brings an efficient, straight forward style of play that does not require a high usage to be effective. Among the better rebounders in 5A alongside dependable scoring in and outside the arc. Proving particularly strong on the defensive glass, Gonzales is constantly seeking the box out, moving into position early to vie for position. Offensively, he has remained consistent on spot-up threes, contributing on high efficiency when asked to stretch out the defense.

A physical forward down in the paint, Kehres is a handful for frontcourt opponents. Effective finishing through pivot moves and step throughs to score through incoming contests and contact. His positional strength lets him defend up against opposing frontcourt threats, maintaining composure on shots or attempted post-ups.

An elite athlete within the region, Johnson has taken yet another step up for his team, leading that Rio Rancho group in points, rebounds, steals, and assists. His quickness has always been there, although it appears the game has slowed down a bit more on both ends. Gaining consistency gauging opponent tendencies on or off the ball, Johnson will be a thorn in the side opponents’ top backcourt or wing prospects this season.

The guard does an excellent job controlling the pace for La Cueva, often knocking down much needed shot attempts in crunch time. His finesse scoring on all three levels has set up this program to have success under such a wide variety of circumstances and defensive coverages.
