The tough 6-foot-2 guard spent this off-season working hard at his game in preparation for this final year of high school and he’s excited about what’s in store for the Generals and himself in 2023-24.
“It’s been going really great,” Hardges said. “Sean’s a really great coach. He helps me a lot and he’s helped me understand the game more, and to understand my own game.”
Hardges started preparing for this season this past summer playing club basketball. He ran with Seattle Select High Academic at a number of different tournaments all across the country and it was an experience he’ll never forget.
“It was amazing playing with (coach) Cameron Dollar and his son and my whole team was really good,” Hardges said. “That was like my most fun AAU experience I ever had in my life. I enjoy good competition and going to Atlanta, to Vegas, to South Carolina – it was good competition and I got some college looks. Just understand and knowing defenses I learned from AAU, I’m going to carry it over here to high school.”
We’ve always been impressed with Hardges’ non-stop motor, especially on the defensive end, and it’s that part of his game that has helped the interest of a number of D-II and D-III programs. Amongst them all, Hardges noted there’s one school that has been standing out the most so far.
“Lewis and Clark wants me the most and I like them,” Hardges said. “I can stay close to home and live at my parents house – it’s an easy drive there.”
Hardges is keeping all his options open and playing out his senior year before making any decisions. It’s a season where he has high hopes and expectations. “Just going to the Chiles Center, that’s my dream for my final year,” Hardges said. “Just go have some fun with my last year of high school being here.”
Hardges currently ranks as the #19 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2024 rankings.
