11/30 – Volcano Vista vs La Cueva
1. Volcano Vista – W 59-44 vs La Cueva
Volcano looked like the best team in the state on Thursday, continuing their winning by tearing away in the 4th quarter, winning by 15. Kenyon Aguino Kenyon Aguino 6'7" | PF Volcano Vista | 2025 State #257 Nation NM was dominant and will be one of the favorites to win GPOY once again.
2. Valencia – W 60-20 vs Deming
Valencia was in complete control of this game from the beginning, taking care of the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last season. Damian Estrada Damian Estrada 6'3" | SF Valencia | 2024 State NM showed out in his new leadership role and was a force on both sides of the ball.
3. Sandia – W 75-65 vs Cibola
It seemed like Sandia couldn’t miss a shot in this contest, and they were able to force turnover after turnover on the defensive end. Zaire Ndyabagye Zaire Ndyabagye 6'5" | SF Sandia | 2025 State NM and Thomas Adams Thomas Adams 6'2" | SF Sandia | 2025 State NM combined for 37 points and 16 rebounds en route to a decisive win.
4. Eldorado – W 52-47 vs Carlsbad
Eldorado emerged victorious in this hard-fought battle, as they stayed composed in crunchtime and were clutch late in the game. Josiah Mitchell Josiah Mitchell 6'0" | SF Eldorado | 2024 State NM showed his athletic ability on both sides of the ball and came up clutch with his defensive effort and free throws in the end.
5. Carlsbad – L 47-52 vs Eldorado
Carlsbad almost mounted an impressive comeback against the Eagles in the 4th quarter, but ultimately fell short in the last minute. Nevertheless, Kyran Orgain and Shane Sullivan showed their ability to keep the Cavemen in games in crunch time.
6. La Cueva – L 44-59 vs Volcano Vista
The game was within 5 points going into the 4th quarter, though the Bear’s efforts failed in the 4th quarter. They showed promise to be one of the premier teams in the state, however, with Cam Dyer dominating at both ends, and Jojo Sanchez Jojo Sanchez 6'5" | C La Cueva | 2026 State NM putting his name on the map with his performance.
7. Cibola – L 65-75 vs Sandia
This game wasn’t as close as the score suggests, but Cibola still showed flashes of potential as they still sport a young cast of talent. Julian Ortiz Julian Ortiz 5'10" | CG Cibola | 2024 State NM was the most consistent piece of this team on Wednesday, creating on offense in more than one way.
8. Deming – L 20-60 vs Valencia
Deming flat-out struggled in their season opener, getting tripled up by Valencia, and scoring only 8 points at halftime. Charlie Hofacket Charlie Hofacket 6'2" | PF Deming | 2024 State NM was one of the lone bright spots for the Wildcats, providing much-needed paint presence on both ends of the floor.
