Armani Smith Armani Smith 6'2" | SG Kirkwood | 2027 State TN (Kirkwood) is a terrifying slasher with his unbelievable strength and power. A freshman?! Armani is a lefty that plays downhill.
Josh Basden Josh Basden 6'2" | SG Kirkwood | 2026 State TN (Kirkwood) played actively. His long arms were constantly in passing lanes. Basden is probably the younger brother of senior Prophet Basden, who is himself a decent player. Josh was very nimble and speedy with long limbs. He might be a 6-foot-3 wing midway through his sophomore season. Keep an eye on Basden during AAU season too. He is going to be a really interesting college prospect.
Anthony Goring Anthony Goring 6'6" | C Kirkwood | 2027 State TN (Kirkwood) looks tall and moderately athletic. These two traits rarely intersect in 15-year-old young men. The freshman did not score much. The game looked a little fast for him, but not drastically so.
Linkoln Schwass (Kirkwood) showed an ability to hit a jumper. During warm-ups he was very accurate. The few times he shot during the game it was smooth.

Landon Cunningham Landon Cunningham 6'1" | PG Waverly | 2024 State TN (Waverly Central) took it upon himself to attack early in the fourth quarter. All day the Tigers struggled to score and Cunningham tried a crossover, hit his defender with a quick spin-move and managed to get off a layup as two players fouled him. It was a lonely highlight in a convincing loss.
Shelbyville Central vs. Dyersburg
Shelbyville Central came out in a 2-3 zone, planting Tae’Shawn Shelton Tae’Shawn Shelton 6'6" | PF Shelbyville Central Highschool | 2026 State TN under the rim. The team lists him 6-foot-7. We measured him at 6-foot-5 way back in June at the PrepHoopsTN Combine. He might be 6-foot-7 by now. Great leaper.
A.J. Higgins (Dyersburg) and his fellow DHS guards really scrapped against the outmanned Central guards at the outset. Thadd Hill was another wonderful on-ball defender in the first quarter.
In the post, Breyden Turnage Breyden Turnage 6'8" | C Dyersburg (baseball) | 2025 State TN caused a lot of problems for Shelbyville Central. The Eagles decided to foul him a lot. Read more about that below the rosters. Turnage finished a beautiful left-handed baby hook late in the first quarter. The bucket enlarged the lead, situating DHS up 6-2.
Midway through the second quarter, Ace Mahaffey Ace Mahaffey 6'0" | PG Dyersburg | 2024 State TN (DHS) dribbled into a pull-up three-pointer in transition. His make changed the tone of the game. Dyersburg then led 13-5.
Shelbyville finally found their footing late in the first half, when Kyler Trice dropped a smooth Euro. DHS led 14-12 with 2:30 in the half after his make.

Matthew landed on somebody’s foot and sustained a minor injury. Though he played through it, Shelton picked up his second foul with 2:43 left in the first quarter. Malek Johnson and Zyon Bonner were the first to see time off of the bench. Zyon entered when Shelton committed his second foul.
