Continue ReadingJake was excellent in Carlsbad’s easy win over Pacifica Christian. Hall had 38 points, 3 three’s, and went 5/6 at the free throw line. He dominated in the painted area and utilized his body control well to create space in congested areas. Jake has terrific touch in close and is more than comfortable finishing at a variety of angles and with either hand.
Tony made an impact at both ends in Carlsbad’s easy win over Pacifica Christian. Duckett was particularly impactful and aggressive in transition as he finished with 16 points, many of which were from the free throw line. He is a good athlete who uses his quickness and leaping ability effectively to attack the basket, as well as to get in passing lanes on the defensive end.
Rocco shot the ball well in Foothill’s win over La Habra on Monday night. Gaffoglio hit 4 three’s en route to finishing with 14 points and demonstrated his quickness and ability to move well without the basketball.
Highlights
Brady Kim
Brady Kim
Brady shot the ball well in Portola’s two games against El Toro and Capo Valley this week, finishing with 19 points in a tough loss to Capo Valley. Kim is a catch and shoot threat, hitting 5 three’s against Capo Valley and several more against El Toro. He gets into the teeth of defenses with the ball to create kick-out opportunities for perimeter shooters, and can take advantage of those opportunities himself as a shooter with his quick release.
Gene Roebuck
Gene Roebuck
Gene was surgical and finished with 23 points in La Mirada’s competitive win over Villa Park. Roebuck was particularly effective in the mid range as he showed good patience and footwork to allow the defender to make the first move, and then take whatever angle the defender gave him. He’s very aggressive and strong for someone his age and his impact on games should only increase as he grows more accustom to the speed, pace, and physicality of HS basketball.
Dakari finished with 22 points on Tuesday afternoon in Villa Park’s tough loss to La Mirada. He was making plays all over the court as an on-ball defender, a strong rebounder, and finishing opportunities inside. Harris’s strong build allows him to be a sturdy post defender, and likewise, have an advantage over defenders when backing them down.
