After last season, coaching legend Dan Carr retired and the new head man for Linton-HMB is Alex Jangula. Coach Jangula played for Carr from 2003-2006 and coached under him from 2011-2014 & 2021-2023. The legendary coach Carr will certainly have a lasting impression on the “new look” Lions.
Linton-HMB lost a good amount of talent and size to graduation but they bring back some serious ballers and athletes. The Lions will be the real deal! PHD believes that Jace Jochim Jace Jochim 6'2" | SG Linton/HMB | 2024 State ND will have a breakout senior season and show that he is one of the best scorers & shooters in Class B.
It will be an exciting year and a new era for the Linton-HMB

Q&A with coach Alex Jangula
PHD: Could you write a couple sentences summing up last season?
“The Lions finished in 3rd place in a tough Region 3. We lost in the semifinals to Medina-PB who were as hot as any team in the State at that time.“
PHD: How did the offseason go for your team/program? What did you do to improve?
“The players competed hard all summer in the gym and the weight room. We went to 3 team camps and also scrimmaged a few teams throughout the summer.“
PHD: Who are a few of your top players to look out for?
“ Jace Jochim Jace Jochim 6'2" | SG Linton/HMB | 2024 State ND is a complete scorer. He can score from all three levels. He really improved attacking downhill this summer. Gentry Richter Gentry Richter 6'5" | SF Linton/HMB | 2025 State ND is another really skilled player. He can pull big guys out to the perimeter or take advantage of his size down low. Justin Tschosik Justin Tschosik 5'8" | PG Linton-HMB | 2024 State ND is a great floor general who is extremely quick. We will look to him to be our defensive stopper.“
PHD: Who are a couple of up-and-comers to look out for in the near future?
“ Kashton Moser Kashton Moser 6'3" | SF Linton-HMB | 2025 State ND (junior) is a player that we think is going to make huge strides this year. He is a 6’3″ athlete who has a lot of potential.“
PHD: What style of basketball will your team play?
“We want to play an attacking style of basketball. We emphasized playing fast but not in a hurry. There are multiple players who can handle the ball so we want to get out and run. Defensively, we will use our length and quickness to our advantage.“
PHD: What are a couple of your team goals this year?
“The goal is always to get better each and every day with the hope of playing our best basketball at tournament time. Expectations are always high in our program. The coaches and players look forward to carrying on the standard that was set.“
PHD: Who are some of the top teams in your Region?
“Our Region will be extremely competitive. There are multiple teams who can win the Region this year. I do not think there is a clear cut favorite. EKM returns a lot of talent and are always well-coached. Sargent County has a lot of impressive athletes that can cause problems for teams. Ellendale lost a few seniors from last year but they are well coached and I expect them to be in the hunt. South Border returns a lot of their top players and will continue to build on last season. Medina-PB and LaMoure-LM has two of the best scorers in the state in Rylen Wick Rylen Wick 6'6" | SF Medina-Pingree/Buchanan | 2024 State ND and Max Musland Max Musland 6'4" | SG LaMoure-Litchville/Marion | 2024 State ND .“
