This program/community is known for its successful 3-sport athletes and the Loboes are a team to watch this year in Class B hoops. With the new “3-Class System” in North Dakota, LLM is now in Region 1, which seems weird to say, but they will have plenty of familiar foes on their schedule. LLM lost a talented senior class but they have a nice group coming back and they will be competing with the best in B. LLM has a young head coach but he knows the game well, has a passion for hoops, and coach Thielges works hard to improve his team/program. Max Musland Max Musland 6'4" | SG LaMoure-Litchville/Marion | 2024 State ND is the big name for the Loboes, he will be one of the best in B, and college coaches need to keep a close eye on him this winter. Good things are coming for the Loboes! PHD is excited to watch LLM hoop this season!

Q&A with coach Tyler Thielges
PHD: Could you write a few sentences summing up last season?
“Last season we finished 13-10. We won the Barnes County Tournament, finished Runner-Up in District 5 & lost a close one in the Region 3 Quarterfinals. We played a challenging schedule, improved as the season went on & felt like we were in a position to compete for a spot at State.“
PHD: How did the offseason go for your team/program?
“It went fairly well. We hosted a couple of team camps & took a team trip out west to play against Killdeer. Most of the boys were busy competing in baseball – both age groups finished Runner-Up at State.“
PHD: Who are a few of your top players to look out for?
Max Musland Max Musland 6'4" | SG LaMoure-Litchville/Marion | 2024 State ND 6’4″ (2024) – “Has established himself as one of the best players in the state. He put in a solid individual off-season by getting stronger & expanding his game. He is a difference-maker on both the offensive & defensive ends of the floor. It’s no secret that he’ll be counted on to lead us again this season.“
Brayan Karlgaard Brayan Karlgaard 6'3" | SF LaMoure-Litchville/Marion Loboes | 2025 State ND 6’3″ (2025) – “Emerged as an effective scorer for us – particularly down the stretch. He is a long athlete that has the potential to be disruptive on defense along with stretching the floor & scoring on offense.“
Blase Isaacson Blase Isaacson 5'9" | CG LLM | 2024 State ND 5’9″ (2024) – “Played significant minutes for us last season. He is a capable 3PT shooter & someone who will be looked upon to bring leadership this season as a senior.“
PHD: Who are a couple of up-and-comers to look out for?
Gunner Thielges Gunner Thielges 6'1" | CG LaMoure-Litchville/Marion | 2026 State ND 6’1″ (2026) – “Is a dynamic athlete who can do a little bit of everything on the court. He has the unique ability to stuff the stat sheet with points, rebounds, assists & steals.“
Avery Kramer Avery Kramer 5'10" | CG LaMoure-Litchville/Marion | 2026 State ND 5’11” (2026) – “Is another exceptional athlete who has the potential to make plays. He is an aggressive scorer who showed flashes of causing chaos in our defensive system.“
Owen Lesko 6’1″ (2025) – “Is a phenomenal all-around athlete who hasn’t gotten to play high school basketball yet due to football injuries as a freshman & sophomore. He was one of the best area players at the youth levels & once his mind adjusts to the speed of high school basketball, he will be a weapon for us.“
PHD: What style of basketball will your team play?
“We will continue to play a brand of basketball that uses our athletes to play an attacking style of defense. With our athletic returners, we feel confident running the floor in transition, but also have some offensive firepower that we can play through in the half-court.“
PHD: What are a couple of your team goals this year?
“There are lots of process-oriented goals that go into it, but the ultimate goal is to compete for championships at tournament time.“
PHD: Who are some of the top teams in your Region?
“Our region – led by an impressive senior class – is really strong this year. There are 7-8 teams that have legitimate regional championship aspirations. Medina-PB returns a lot – particularly one of the best scorers around ( Rylen Wick Rylen Wick 6'6" | SF Medina-Pingree/Buchanan | 2024 State ND ) – from their State Tournament run last season. EKM returns a difficult matchup in Jacob Nitschke Jacob Nitschke 6'5" | PF Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier | 2024 State ND & four other major contributors from last year’s district championship team. Ellendale returns a talented nucleus of players that have been key parts of their success the last few years. South Border returns a tough player in Trevor Schmidt Trevor Schmidt 6'5" | SF South Border | 2024 ND & a few of the surrounding guards. Linton/HMB returns a talented/athletic roster with multiple threats. Sargent County has impressive skill & length to contend with in Josh Wittich Josh Wittich 6'5" | PF Sargent County | 2024 State ND & Luke Martinson Luke Martinson 6'4" | PF Sargent County | 2024 State ND . I think BCN & RIchland are capable of surprising some people as well.“
Best of luck to the Loboes!
