Q&A with coach Aaron Schramm from Park River/Fordville-Lankin
PHD: What can you tell us about last season?
“This is my first year as head coach but I know we graduated 6 seniors. Our top scorers and rebounders have graduated. We have 5 returning letter winners, one of which was a starter at center – Nevin Daley Nevin Daley 6'5" | C Park River/Fordville-Lankin | 2025 State ND . We did have a highly competitive JV last year and a number of those kids will be called on to contribute this season.”
PHD: How did the offseason go for your program?
“Our summer offseason allowed us to attend a few team camps which gave a lot of our younger players a chance to be exposed to varsity-level basketball. Early indications are that these younger players will be ready to compete at the varsity level.”
PHD: What can you tell us about this year’s team?
“Our greatest strength this winter should be our depth. We will be undersized with most of our players 6’0″ and under. However, we will be athletic and I anticipate us to play an up-tempo style of basketball.”
PHD: Who will be some of the teams to watch in Region 2?
“With the transition to a 3-division system, it will be interesting to see what our new District and Region are like. We are familiar with some of our district teams, but we will be playing some new teams and do not know a lot about them. I see North Star being the top team in our District and Region. They have experience, talent, and size with the Dane Hagler Dane Hagler 6'4" | SG North Star | 2024 ND and Simon brothers. I know Cavalier and Drayton-Valley-Edinburg will be senior dominant teams that have a lot of experience and scoring ability. Midway-Minto will be young, but they have a great deal of talent and experience coming back. Langdon-E-M is always competitive and Rayce Worley Rayce Worley 6'4" | SF Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich | 2024 State ND is an excellent player. I do not know much about North Prairie and St. John’s. North Border will be like us in that they graduated a lot of experience and scoring/rebounding. They had a competitive JV and those kids will be ready to contribute at the varsity level too. From our Region, I see the new Nelson County coop being very strong. May-Port CG is well coached and should be very competitive. I also believe New Rockford-Sheyenne is supposed to be very athletic and talented. Finally, Warwick is the defending Region Champs and they have a lot of kids coming back. It should be a very competitive District and Region.”
PHD: What are some goals for the season?
“Our goals for the season are to continue to get better as the year goes along. I would like us to be playing our best basketball come tournament time.”
