Continue ReadingAllen High School made their fall debut last weekend in Dallas after being one of the biggest question marks in the state for rankings. One thing that’s for sure, the roster is stacked paper wise and they have the deepest backcourt in the state as well. Most sites have them 10-15 in the state & their elite pre district schedule set up means coach Richard Cipolletta has confidence his boys are top 10 with basically 10 ranked teams in front of them. Here’s a quick breakdown of some of the players we may this season carrying the torch for Allen.
Aric Walls Aric Walls 6'2" | SG Allen | 2024 State TX
Aric Walls Aric Walls 6'2" | SG Allen | 2024 State TX
2024 Aric Walls Aric Walls 6’2″ | SG Allen | 2024 State TX is a coaches dream, especially at the high school level. He brings toughness, speed and athleticism to the floor and never takes a play off. I got to catch him at the “first look” in Dallas leading Allen at the PG position. First thing that stands out is his grit, he walks around the court like he owns it and brings that same attitude to the defensive side of the ball. He had several deflections, steals, and forced turnovers with his long wingspan but is no slack on the offensive side. He shines most in transition as once of the bounciest kids in the state if he gets loose don’t even try to block it or you’ll end up on media post all over the internet. His motor seems unlimited and he’ll provide a constant energy for the eagles on both sides all year long.
Arinze Ubawike
Arinze Ubawike
6’2 Arinze Ubawike was easily one of the standouts on this talented Allen backcourt. Good size and skill at the guard position. He displayed some strong 2 way skills that play a huge part in Allen’s versatility. Shot maker, he makes some big shots from the arc. Doesn’t think twice about putting his shot up and knocks it down at a high percentage. He also really gets after it on the defensive end using his big frame to physically frustrate guards. Arinze has a bunch of potential to have a excellence season for the eagles and should be on your radar.
Trent Pane
Trent Pane
2025 Trent Pane was super smooth and showed a good IQ as the primary ball handler for the backcourt. Skilled scorer, has a nice bag of step backs and footwork and created most of his shots off the dribble. He’s potent in the mid range area which is always a plus for coaches. Tough going to basket, he ate contact multiple times and finished the bucket even had a couple and 1’s that got the crowd going. He’s a high IQ PG that can score or dish and plays well within the team gameplan. Make sure he’s on your radar.
Deandre Thomas Deandre Thomas 6'7" | PF Allen | 2025 State TX
Deandre Thomas Deandre Thomas 6'7" | PF Allen | 2025 State TX
6’7 Deandre Thomas Deandre Thomas 6’7″ | PF Allen | 2025 State TX takes care of most of the post presence on this Allen team. Super active from the free thrown line and down on both sides. Athletic and very mobile for his size, he grabbed several rebounds against WT White that prevented them from 2nd chance opportunities which is their bread and butter with two 7 foot post players. He also averages a couple steals a game which is a plus for coaches. Offensives he can be strong at the rim or a finesse player with finishes like euro steps or reverses. He also can step out and knock down the 3 ball which seems to be a trending skill of today’s big man. Deondre will carry alot of weight this year and has some tough matchups which is a good chance for him to grow his stock by mid season. Keep him on your radar.
6’7 Isaiah Dozier Isaiah Dozier 6’6″ | SF Allen | 2025 State TX is another post presence wit HIGH upside. He’s long and athletic and can really hang in air to finish baskets. Super mobile in transition, can run the floor well and create good spacing for easy dishes and finishes. I like his upside finishing at rim on 1 or 2 feet with bounce. Make sure he’s on your radar with ELITE size.
6’4 2024 Kaiden Myers Kaiden Myers 6’3″ | CG Allen | 2024 State TX is a high IQ big guard that makes a huge impact for the Eagles when he’s on the court. He shinned defensively racking up easy buckets at the rim when I caught him but he has quite the resume offensively as well. Smooth player, picks his spots and only puts up efficient shots. 3 level score, he can contribute from anywhere on the floor that is needed. He’s a standout for coaches to have on their radar this year.
Antonio Shannon Antonio Shannon 6'3" | SG Allen | 2025 State TX
Antonio Shannon Antonio Shannon 6'3" | SG Allen | 2025 State TX
2025 Antonio Shannon Antonio Shannon 6’3″ | SG Allen | 2025 State TX showed some strong glimpses of what next years team could look like. He’s a long athletic guard that doesn’t think twice about putting shots up. He’s also a high motor player who really plays with a chip on his shoulder defensively. Overall proving his self to be an important piece of the eagles backcourt.
Nnamdi Ubawike Nnamdi Ubawike 6'2" | PG Allen | 2025 State TX
Nnamdi Ubawike Nnamdi Ubawike 6'2" | PG Allen | 2025 State TX
6’2 Nnamdi Ubawike Nnamdi Ubawike 6’2″ | PG Allen | 2025 State TX was more of facilitator this weekend. He’s apart of the first team and I’m guessing his lockdown defense earned him that spot. Nice handle, patient in the offense and makes the right play consistently.
