Player Comments from coach Mondry
Hunter Hoffman Hunter Hoffman 6'4" | PF Center-Stanton | 2024 State ND (2024) – “Scored his 1,000th career point last season. Can score in bunches. He is a very good shooter who also has a nice touch around the rim. He will need to develop as a leader for the Wildcats to be successful next season. (Potential All-Region)“
Jarret Henke Jarret Henke 6'0" | CG Center-Stanton | 2024 State ND (2024) – “Is a good ball handler who has great vision. Henke is shifty and is at his best when attacking the basket. He will need to be more consistent shooting the basketball.“
Lane Huber (2024) – “Is a strong kid who is a great defender. Lane is a scrappy player who rebounds hard. He will need to be more consistent on both ends of the floor.“
Josh Thies (2024) – “Is a good shooter. He developed more confidence as the year progressed. We hope to see Josh continue to get better shooting the ball and defending with an edge.“
Jordan Peterson (2024) – “Is a smart player who works extremely hard. Jordan is a capable defender that we hope takes big strides this upcoming season.“
Ken Albers (2025) – “Is a basketball junkie who is an extremely smart player. He sees the floor very well and can handle the basketball. We hope to see Ken be more consistent shooting the basketball next season.“
Q&A with Andrew Mondry
PHD: Can you make some comments on your team from last year?
“Last season was up and down for the Wildcats. The team was hit with the injury bug throughout the season giving opportunities for underclassmen to get some varsity experience. The Wildcats went 5-16 and lost a close one to New Salem in the Region Qualifier.”
PHD: Could you make some comments on your 2023-24 team?
“The Wildcats are optimistic as they return their entire roster for the 23-24 season. There are 5 seniors with varsity experience who will need to play together and be consistent for the Wildcats to see success next season. Our team has put in a lot of time this offseason with individual skill camps, team camps, and open gyms. We have seen a lot of growth in our team and are excited for the 23-24 season.“
PHD: What style of basketball will your team play?
“The Wildcats hang their hat on the defensive end that hopefully leads to easy baskets in transition. We want to push the pace a little more this year. The biggest thing for us is playing quality defense, taking care of the basketball on offense, and getting open-rhythm shots.“
PHD: Do you have any team goals?
“Finish about .500 and make the Region Tournament.“
PHD: Who will be some of the top teams in your District?
“Wilton-Wing, Washburn, Garrison“
PHD: Who will be some of the top teams in your Region?
“Bowman, Wilton-Wing, Glen-Ullin/Hebron, Washburn“
