It was in HS team format and I watched 15+ different teams and saw many newcomers.
Here were some of the standout forward newcomers:
Zaire Smith Zaire Smith 6'6" | PF Phoenix Christian | 2026 State AZ Phoenix Christian
A long power forward with a nice frame. He moves really well from end to end and takes very long strides to get to the basket. He is an above the rim athlete. He rebounds well on both sides of the court and his length and size on defense will be felt immediately. His free throw shooting stroke looks good too.
Dashi Goodloe McGary Dashi Goodloe McGary 6'6" | PF West Phoenix | 2024 State AZ West Phoenix CAA
A raw post player is a very good athlete with length. He doesn’t have the footwork yet but has good hands and grabs every rebound in his area. He will challenge oncoming players and block some shots plus run the floor like a guard. He can hit an occasional perimeter jumper but mostly scores it closest to the basket.
Maddox Harmoney Maddox Harmoney 6'5" | PF Cibola | 2024 State AZ Cibola
A face-up four-man with a pretty touch. He has a sweet stroke from elbow and in. He has good length and decent size. He uses it to rebound and block shots and plays with some toughness.
Logan McGough Logan McGough 6'7" | PF Inspire Prep | 2024 AZ Inspire Prep (Pictured)
A thicker post player is a shot blocker in his area and rebounds at a good clip. He has good hands to catch tough passes with a polished drop step with counter moves. He handles the ball well for position and is a good passer. The high academic forward moved in from Washington.
Aaryon Kinney Aaryon Kinney 6'3" | SF Cibola | 2025 State AZ Cibola
A freaky long athletic downhill wing. He grabs out of area rebounds and is a very good transition player. He plays with speed and athleticism. He is their glue guy on both sides of the court.
Rashard Cooper Rashard Cooper 6'6" | PF Mesa Mountain View | 2024 State AZ Mesa Mountain VIew
A good sized power forward recently lost 70 lbs and is looking good. He scores thru contact and uses spin moves and hook shots. He rebounds well and can score on put backs. He also has a nice touch on his jumper.
Kevin Alabi Kevin Alabi 6'8" | PF Skyline Prep | 2024 State AZ Skyline Prep
A long armed power forward with good size and length. He can score it near the basket with alley oops and can create his own offense with his back to the basket.
