They play a super tough schedule and they could start off with a few losses off the bat but that does not diminish how good they are and will be. Here is the field and notes.
#1 Alta
Alta is good and they will have a best a chance as any team in the state to defend their title. They are led by two next level players in Ace Reiser and Jaxon Johnson. Jaxon made it official yesterday as he committed to The University of Utah. Ace is still on the board but man, he is really good. The biggest stock riser has to be Carter Doleac, he has really transformed this offseason and he is going to be a problem for sure. Team has size, shooting and speed. They will be a tough team to beat.
#2 Springville
Springville might have one of the most dominating big fellas in the class as Jamyn Sondrup is a problem in the paint. He gets deep touches he is shooting 80% + easy. The other issue is that he is a big time threat as a trail 3 big now as well as a pick n’ pop threat as well. Adding the athletic wing Andrew Miller makes them a run and finish team as they fast break. Mason Hansen is playing well and he is a PG that can spread the floor. Really impressed with the emergence of Luke Nadauld.
#3 Olympus
First off NOBODY IS SLEEPING ON OLYMPUS. Just wanted to get that out there. This team is good and when you have two bug time D1 players on the team like Jordan Barnes and Dutch Dowdell you lknow that you are in for a battle. Olympus will run and gun and Barnes makes everyone around him better. Gavin Lowe will be much improved but look for a few new names to emerge. Olympus is a machine and they will reload.
#4 Highland
Highland has a roster that if things move and the scoring load is shared they could really be a true contender. The have some solid shooting and Matt Lambson is a bucket out there. The big fell George McConkie is a servicable big that provides size and rim protection. Sefa Brown is a legit PF with D1 athleticism. Isaiah Drisdom is the real deal at PG. He kind plays like Dame Lillard. This team could make noise.
#5 Orem
Orem has some pieces that will help them win big games. The addition of Jax Allen helps them, Kai Wesley is super tuff and Chance Dastrup is smart and he is a willing passer with good vision and shooting ability. They will be young but they will be dangerous.
#6 Bountiful
Team has two dudes that will have an opportunity to make a big impact in Charlie Smith and Carson Smith. Both players will be next level players and both could really put up big numbers.
#7 Timpview
Timpview will be very young but they will be able to lean on Dean Rueckert a solid skilled player with size. Dean can do a little bit of everything. Youngster Mason Ford is coming along well but this squad could surprise teams.
#8 Juan Diego
The Soaring Eagle kind of flipped their roster as they will be a new look team. They have some good players in Luke Meyer and Rahiti Tiniauari who has been putting in work. These two are strong and skilled and they have a few new pieces that will be major impact players.
#9 Brighton
Brighton has three solid players and more but Bradley Easton can shoot the ball. He has range and he is a high percentage shooter. Nash Matheson is one of the best slashers and get to the rim and free-throw-line players. Then they have a new move in Jaxon Soto who will add lead guard skills and a scoring punch.
#10 Woods Cross
Woods Cross is another team that is a new look team but they have a few tuff guards in Hunter Jackson and Bryson Watson. Both could combine for 35+ PPG.
