Another Maumee Valley Country Day prospect who stood out, we already mentioned Cj Majors in my last article, Dickerson impacted the game in a variety of ways. A high energy wing who plays hard and puts pressure on the defense with his relentless attacks on the rim. If Dickerson can simplify his role as a slashing wing who hits mid-range shots and defend, he’ll have a nice role at a small college program. With the duo of Majors and Dickerson, Maumee Valley Country Day could be one of the best small school programs in NW Ohio this winter.
Another high motor wing, few players in the 2024 class play as hard as Brenneman does. Just the ultimate hustle and glue guy, plenty of small college programs are interested in Brenneman due to the intangibles he brings to the court. On Sunday Brenneman make his usual winning plays by playing tough defense, getting loose balls and moving the ball to the open man. He also scored at the rim with a couple and-1 layups and some hop step finishes off dribble drive attacks. Toledo Central Catholic has a couple talented underclassmen pieces that could really blossom this winter with the help of a strong senior class that Brenneman headlines.
Whitmer has a lot of talent but I think Davis could play a crucial role for them as a senior. The wing is a quick processor with the ball in his hands, a good shooter from the perimeter and a solid athlete. On Sunday, Davis was knocking down a high percentage of spot-up 3-point shots that fell to him and also played his usual tough defense. A name to watch in NW Ohio as Davis has the talent to swing a game or two for Whitmer, just further adding to their depth.
Lima Sr kids are always going to be tough and Walton made a lot of defensive plays on Sunday. A couple blocks including one from behind where he made a quick recovery caught my eye. An impressive athlete, Walton was long and got off the ground quickly to contest shots and grab rebounds. On the offensive end, Walton played with confidence with the ball in his hands, making a couple of decisive moves to the bucket and had a couple finishes at the rim. A solid depth piece for the Spartans who are headlined by some younger talent this season.
