Either Bechen or teammate Ty Pflughaupt Ty Pflughaupt 6'4" | SF North Linn | 2024 State IA would be a deserving winner here, but we’ll side with Bechen, who paces the Lynx on both ends of the floor. His quickness and IQ are rivaled by few in the state.
First Team
2025 Mason Bechen Mason Bechen 6'1" | PG North Linn | 2025 State IA (North Linn): 14.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.0 steals, 51.5 FG%, 47.0 3P%, 81.4 FT%
A high IQ lead guard who is in complete control of the Lynx system on both ends of the floor, Bechen is the type of dynamic point guard that we came accustomed to seeing North Linn have leading the charge with the Hilmer brothers. He scores in bunches from all three levels and is a fantastic passer.
2024 Ty Pflughaupt Ty Pflughaupt 6'4" | SF North Linn | 2024 State IA (North Linn): 15.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.5 steals, 1.5 blocks, 60.0 FG%, 36.7 3P%
A versatile 6-5 wing who can really shoot it from deep, Pflughaupt is headed to play his college ball at Upper Iowa, where he’ll give the Peacocks an ideal 3-and-D wing. His length is a major asset as he covers a ton of ground and does a great job contesting shots without fouling.
2024 Braydon Osborn Braydon Osborn 6'3" | SG Alburnett | 2024 State IA (Alburnett): 16.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.9 steals, 38.1 3P%
A long, bouncy wing who can shoot it from deep or put it on the floor and get to the rim, Osborn had a breakout junior year for the Pirates, leading the team in scoring and rebounding, and pairing with Jordan Caton Jordan Caton 5'9" | PG Alburnett | 2024 State IA to give Alburnett a dynamic tandem on the perimeter.
2024 Jordan Caton Jordan Caton 5'9" | PG Alburnett | 2024 State IA (Alburnett): 13.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 3.0 steals, 42.3 3P%, 86.7 FT%
Caton has a great backstory that you should read up on if you get a chance, and he’s an easy kid to root for. He’s also a really talented basketball player who can shoot it at an extremely high clip off the dribble. His quickness is a major asset on both ends of the floor, and he’ll pace a Pirates team that will be looking to unseat North Linn at the top of the division.
2025 Matthew Klostermann Matthew Klostermann 5'10" | PG Central City | 2025 State IA (Central City): 15.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 2.1 steals
A stat-sheet stuffing guard, Klostermann makes a major impact on the game on both ends of the floor with his combination of speed, toughness, and IQ. He loves to get his teammates involved and is a really good finisher through contact at the rim.
