This weekend will bring a close to the slate for 2023 with four states staging events. One of those states is Georgia and the picturesque mountains of the Cartersville area will once again provide an eye-capturing background for the scintillating basketball that is sure to take place.
Illinois, Indiana and Kansas will also stage Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo events. We begin our preview series of this year’s event with a look at this year’s sophomore class.
Ford Felton

The Knights of 5A Centennial moved from Region 7-5A to Region 6-5A beginning last season. Felton is looking to establish himself as part of a budding young nucleus of talent that should continue to yield positive fortunes for the Knights in the coming seasons. The Knights are sending a strong contingency to this year’s Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo as Felton will be one of several from Centennial who will be on hand this Sunday at LakePoint Sports. Felton will also be one of the taller participants who will be on hand in Cartersville as he stands at an imposing 6-foot-6.
Love is currently slated to be one of two from the 7A Wildcats of Valdosta that will make their presences known at this year’s Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. He stands at an even six feet. His primary position is running point and one can see with his ability to organize an offense in a halfcourt set. Love will showcase an ability to handle the ball with either hand and understands when the correct times are to distribute and when to score. He will throw defenders off balance with how quickly he can get to the basket even through a sea of opposing defenders and is confident in his ability to hit 3-pointers.
Setrana played his middle school basketball at Druid Hills MS and has taken his talents to the high school level and 4A Druid Hills. He stands at 6-foot-3 and places plenty of emphasis on defense. When one has the wingspan that Setrana has, that can be the case as he will look to reject an opposing ball handler’s shot attempt as a defender. One area that he displays his high basketball IQ is when he receives passes in transition and looks to finish with emphasis at the cup. Setrana also places a lot of attention on ball handling as well as the ability to make efficient passes to teammates.

It is only fitting that the Wildcats of 7A Wheeler send a notable contingent to this year’s Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. Walker will be part of that group and it was an assembling that left the Macon Coliseum at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season with 7A state championship hardware. Walker stands at 6-foot-2 and will be part of a Wildcats bunch that will be in its second season back in the 7A ranks following a couple of seasons competing primarily against 6A teams. Two other 2026s as well as a 2024 will complete the Wheeler representation that will be on hand this Sunday at LakePoint Sports.
