In this article, we will name the members of the preseason, Class B All-state team. These are some of the best small school players that the state has and will be some of the best players during the 2023-24 season.

Preseason 1st Team
Armonii Benjamin Armonii Benjamin 6'2" | CG Avoyelles Public Charter | 2026 State LA (Avoyelles Charter | 6’1″ | 2026)
Kane Broussard Kane Broussard 6'5" | CG Lacassine | 2025 State LA (Lacassine | 6’4″ | 2025)
Jalen Brown Jalen Brown 5'10" | PG Avoyelles Charter | 2025 State LA (Avoyelles Charter | 5’10” | 2025)
Zakalveon Gadison Zakalveon Gadison 6'2" | SG Rapides | 2024 State LA (Rapides | 6’0″ | 2024)
Dustin Welch Dustin Welch 6'3" | SG Anacoco | 2024 State LA (Anacoco | 6’3″ | 2024)
Jalen Brown Jalen Brown 5'10" | PG Avoyelles Charter | 2025 State LA was the Class B Most Outstanding Player as he helped led Avoyelles Charter to a state title scoring 18 ppg. He is one of the top point guards regardless of class. His sidekick Armonii Benjamin Armonii Benjamin 6'2" | CG Avoyelles Public Charter | 2026 State LA might have been a freshman last season; however, he is one of the more prolific scorers regardless of class. Benjamin is also highly accurate from three. Kane Broussard Kane Broussard 6'5" | CG Lacassine | 2025 State LA is a three level scorer who can rebound well also. He may be the most versatile player on the first team. Dustin Welch Dustin Welch 6'3" | SG Anacoco | 2024 State LA can play on the perimeter or in the post on offense. He is one of the harder players to defend. Rapides guard Zakelveon Gadison can put up big numbers offensively and will probably do that again in his senior season. His team made a run to Marsh Madness behind his play and that can happen again.

Hayden Doyle Hayden Doyle 6'2" | CG Hicks | 2024 State LA (Hicks | 6’2″ | 2024)
Lawrence Pickney Lawrence Pickney 6'3" | CG JS Clark | 2025 State LA (J.S. Clark | 6’0″ | 2025)
Preston Sanders Preston Sanders 6'2" | CG Zwolle | 2025 State LA (Zwolle | 6’1″ | 2025)
Owen Soileau (Elizabeth | 6’0″ | 2024)
Jacob Vilar (Episcopal of Acadiana | 6’2″ | 2024)
When it comes to guards who should have a breakout season, Lawrence Pickney Lawrence Pickney 6'3" | CG JS Clark | 2025 State LA is on that list. He was one of the lead guards on a young J.S. Clark team last season. His ability to put the ball in the basket and run a team will be at the forefront of his team’s success. Zwolle’s Preston Sanders Preston Sanders 6'2" | CG Zwolle | 2025 State LA has the potential to be the best player in the class. He is an explosive guard who is a terror in transition. Sanders helped the Hawks win a state title last season and should be a focal point in their run this year.
Hicks always has a player step up in their senior season and Hayden Doyle Hayden Doyle 6'2" | CG Hicks | 2024 State LA should be the one this season. His scoring and rebounding ability will help Hicks win a ton of games. Jacob Vilar is a threat from multiple parts of the floor. He is very good at keeping defenders guessing as he gets to his spots on the floor. Owen Soileau is one of the best shooters in the class. His ability to dial in from deep will help showcase his other talents on the floor.
Class B will begin play with jamborees and hall of fame games the week of October 23rd through 27th with the season starting on October 30th.
