The event featured a strong contingent of teams from both the south and north regions of the state and some of the top teams from Arizona and Utah. In this piece we take a closer look at some players whose play helped raise their stock.
Justin Pippen Justin Pippen 6'3" | PG Sierra Canyon | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, Sierra Canyon
Pippen was by far the most impressive guard at this event in terms of how much he has improved since the last time we saw him. The 6-foot-3 point guard orchestrated Sierra Canyon’s high octane offense to near perfection with high IQ decisions on when to score and when to dish and when to take transition opportunities and when to pull the ball out and run offense. Pippen is taking a similar approach to development as his older brother Scotty did as a late bloomer. The senior is a no doubt Division 1-caliber recruit with his combination of true point guard feel and ability score in bunches when needed.
Kevin Haupt Kevin Haupt 5'10" | PG Jesuit | 2024 State CA-N , 2024, Jesuit
Haupt is the consummate floor general in the sense that he commands the position, runs the show efficiently and is an extension of the coach on the floor. What Haupt adds to all of that – and what made him one of our top stock raisers from this event – was the ability to take over a game with his scoring. The 5-foot-9 point guard has a variety of crafty finishes around the basket and can knock down pull-up three-point and mid-range jumpers with consistency.
Korin Hull Korin Hull 6'3" | SG JSerra | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, JSerra
Hull won’t be the most athletic or ball dominant guy in the gym but his solid all-around skill-set and basketball IQ will be valuable to a program at the next level. The 6-foot-3 senior wing is a smooth shooter off the catch with range to the three-point line and he also has some old-school attributes to his game with his ability to get a bucket with his back to the basket.
Majok Chuol Majok Chuol 6'10" | C Sierra Canyon | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, Sierra Canyon
Chuol is still a pretty raw prospect on the offensive end but not enough can be said of the energy and effort he brought to the floor. The 6-foot-11 center is a quick-twitch and mobile athlete who protects the rim, rebounds, runs the floor and has the lateral athleticism and speed to play defend in multiple ball screen defensive concepts.
Milanas Luksas Milanas Luksas 6'9" | PF Crean Lutheran | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, Crean Lutheran
Luksas has a ton of untapped skill that he’s slowly starting to show. The 6-foot-10 center has a well-built frame highlighted by a strong base and good lift off the floor. He’s an active rim-runner with good hands, footwork, and touch around the basket and showed some feel in ball-screen or dribble hand-off action on the perimeter.
