Stats & Comments
Jovi Wolf Jovi Wolf 6'0" | SG Chester Area | 2024 State SD (2024) |6’0 G| – 15 ppg, 5.1 RPG, 1.8 apg, 1.2 spg
-4 year starter, All-levels scorer, elite speed and athleticism, really has improved his outside shooting game to become a threat other than being a slasher, multi-sport stud.
Brayden Schut (2024) |5’10 F| – 4.1 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.1 apg, .8 spg
-Returning starter, good defender who can guard multiple positions, role player on offense, team player.
Layke Wold Layke Wold 5'10" | CG Chester Area | 2025 State SD (2025) |5’10 G| – 15 ppg, 3.1 RPG, 2.4 apg, 1.1 spg
-Returning starter, point guard, great outside threat shooting the ball (3-point sniper), has been working on his ball handling and mid-range J to become a more overall threat.
Garret Hansen Garret Hansen 6'3" | SF Chester | 2025 State SD (2025) |6’3 F| – 1.5 ppg, 2.1 rpg, .5 apg, .8 spg
-Returning 6th man from last year, his role increased as the season went on as one of the Flyers primary bigs off the bench, big motor who defends hard despite being undersized.
JD Prorok JD Prorok 6'4" | SF Chester | 2026 State SD (2026) |6’4 F| – 1.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg, .7 apg, .3 spg
-Played a major role at the beginning of last season when the Flyers were decimated by injuries, so he has a good amount of varsity experience, plays big, and is a good rebounder.
Zach Moyer Zach Moyer 5'11" | SF Chester | 2026 State SD (2026) |6’4 F| – 1.9 ppg, 1.5 rpg, .7 apg, .3 spg
-He did not see much of the floor at the beginning of the year but his role increased as he gained more experience/confidence, is a good slasher to the hoop, rebounds well on the defensive side.
Jaxton Opdahl (2026) |5’8 G| – .5 ppg
-Saw a lot of time at the beginning of last year due to injuries so he has varsity experience returning this year, has all the qualities to be an all-level scorer and he will be asked to expand that role moving forward.
Carter Vogel (2026) |5’10 G| – 1.3 ppg
-Carter did not see much time at the beginning of the year but he became a valued guard off the bench at the end of quarters/foul trouble situations, will be the backup point guard, so his role will also expand this year.
Will Seeley (2025) |5’11 F|
-Will did not see significant varsity time this past season but was a primary player on the junior varsity. However, this year the Flyers have seen an increase in his athleticism and competitiveness that makes him a prime candidate to be a 6th man off the bench. Seeley has the versatility to play multiple positions which makes him a valuable player.
Chance Wyszynski (2026) |6’0 F|
-He will be a primary player on the junior varsity but is a returning varsity player whose role could grow depending on need and skill development, has the potential to be a great stretch-4 in the Flyers program.
Q&A with coach Adam Gale
PHD: Could you sum up last season for us?
“The season started out rough with injuries that lingered from football in addition to a basketball injury in early December, Therefore our first 8-10 games were difficult to navigate while trying to find our identity. However, we learned some valuable lessons against really quality teams such as Beresford, Sioux Valley, Baltic, etc. Once we got healthy and began to figure out our offensive identity we began to click and we were competing against really good teams by late January/early February and we were playing our best basketball at the end of the season winning 6 of our last 7 games heading into the postseason.“
PHD: How did the offseason go for your team/program?
“The offseason went well for our players. We focused all on skill development and less on team competitions. We did a lot of shooting, passing, dribbling, and defensive footwork as it was a focus on back to the basics to form our foundation.“
PHD: Who are a few of your top players to look out for?
“ Jovi Wolf Jovi Wolf 6'0" | SG Chester Area | 2024 State SD and Layke Wold Layke Wold 5'10" | CG Chester Area | 2025 State SD will be our two primary threats on the offensive end. They are both returning starters and both our leading scorers. They each do different things very well. Jovi has lightning speed and phenomenal athleticism and Layke is more fundamental and a great ball handler and distributor. Both are threats beyond the arc which makes them hard to defend.“
PHD: Who are a couple of up-and-comers to look out for in the near future?
“ Garret Hansen Garret Hansen 6'3" | SF Chester | 2025 State SD , JD Prorok JD Prorok 6'4" | SF Chester | 2026 State SD , and Will Seeley are all prime candidates to take on the starting forward position and be the first post off the bench. Garret and JD have seen significant varsity time and have the experience whereas Will has the potential as well. Guardwise Jaxton Opdahl, Carter Vogel, and Zach Moyer Zach Moyer 5'11" | SF Chester | 2026 State SD will all have to step up to fill the guard opening as well as be primary contributors off the bench.“
PHD: What style of basketball will your team play?
“Offensively we will want to play fast and spread out. We want lots of ball movement to get the defense moving so we can pounce when there is a weakness whether that be from the outside or a slashing threat. Defensively we want to defend you with all 5 guys man to man and stop you in the ½ court. We pride ourselves on our defense and we’ll go as far as our defense takes us.“
PHD: What are a couple of your team goals this year?
“Team goals are to finish toward the top of the Big East Conference and be in contention come region time. The last couple of years we have started slow and come on toward the end, this year we want to start fast and end fast which will require a great pre-season.“
PHD: In your opinion, who are some of the top teams in your Region?
“Howard, DRSM, and Canistota are some to mention at the top. Howard returns nearly all of their main players in addition to DRSM and Canistota. These teams were all in the race last year and I foresee them being forces to reckon with again this year. Bridgewater-Emery and Ethan were towards the top the last couple of years as well so they will be tough to contend with. It is an extremely competitive Region and some good teams will be left out of the Sweet 16, but a high tide lifts all boats so we’re looking forward to seeing where we measure up.“
