The consists of JUCO, post grad and private schools from up and down the east coast, as well as an Overtime Elite team too.
Here’s a look at part one of some of the high school and post grad prospects from VA teams that will be in attendance.
Pepe Cunthe | 6’7” WF | S3 Academy 2024
Cunthe is a new name in VA that coaches should become familiar with, and the JUCO/Prep Showdown will be the perfect event to put his name out there. He played well at the last CBG Fall Series session, showing his versatility and high upside as a prospect as he continues to develop. He has a basketball frame with long limbs and is a natural athlete who gets up and down the floor well, and he showed the ability to make shots off the catch and attack the basket as a finisher.
Ryan Gornwalk | 6’4” WG | S3 Academy 2024
Gornwalk is another S3 available senior that could draw that attention of college coaches, as he played well in the last session and has some tools that will be intriguing to coaches. At 6’4” he has good size on the wing and is a solid athlete making him a good defender, he knocks down shots consistently from deep and he can attack the basket and is a good finisher in traffic too.
Deng Deng | 6’9” C | S3 Academy 2024
Deng is part of a very intriguing young front court for S3 that has tons of size and upside moving forward, as he’s still raw but has time to develop. He’s a good athlete at his size as he gets up and down the floor and gets off his feet well to finish and protect the rim, he shows good touch around the rim and makes his free throws at a good clip too.
Matthew Shelton Matthew Shelton 6'5" | PF Evergreen Christian | 2024 State VA | 6’6” WF | Evergreen Christian 2024
Shelton has been a big reason for the turn around of the Evergreen program over the past few years, and he holds a handful of division one offers and will have a chance to gain even more this weekend at the event. The 6’6” wing is a big time athlete who gets downhill aggressively and plays above the rim, he thrives in transition where he can handle the ball and he’s a versatile defender who can guard multiple positions.
Rodney Ekwoanya Rodney Ekwoanya 6'5" | SF Evergreen Christian | 2024 State VA | 6’6” PF | Evergreen Christian 2024
Ekwoanya is another versatile forward for Evergreen who allows them to play uptempo and switch a lot on the defensive end, and his high motor and energy allows him to be very productive. He does the dirty work as he’s a good rebounder and makes the hustle plays, he cuts well off the ball and finishes well in the paint and he can step out on the perimeter where he can put it on the deck and make shots when left open.
Jackson Britt Jackson Britt 6'3" | CG Evergreen Christian | 2025 State VA | 6’2” PG | Evergreen Christian 2025
Britt is an up and coming guard in the Richmond area, as the 6’2” point guard has a mix of skill and shot making ability while also being a high IQ playmaker too. He’s shifty off the bounce and can change speeds and create space, he can knock it down consistently from deep off the catch and off the bounce and he sees the floor well and delivers passes on point to find teammates in easy scoring situations.
