After being held in Lansing and a four year stay in Mount Pleasant the camp was held in Grand Rapids this past Sunday. As you would expect in its new west side locale. There was strong contingent from the region. Following are a handful of players that caught my eye.
Isaiah Hamlet Isaiah Hamlet 6'8" | PF Homeschool | 2025 State MI 6-7 2025 Grand Rapids Catholic Central (pictured) I’ve written many times before. The Catholic program is one of deepest programs in the entire state.. However they were quite small along the frontline. With a full year from Hamlet and the player below that should not be a problem this year. That being said, Hamlet showed much more than just a post game on Saturday. Many times showed his potential as a “grab and go” prospect. Snagging a rebound and leading the break himself with good ball handling ability. Also shot the ball well from all over the court. Big enough to take on plenty of contact in the post. Often finishing through it.
Jack Bowen Jack Bowen 6'6" | PF Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2025 State MI 6-6 2025 Grand Rapids Catholic Central Coming off a good grassroots season with the Grand Rapids Storm . Bowen should join Hamlet in a rejuvenated Catholic front line. Bowen is a more traditional post than Hamlet. Is a lefty and showed a soft touch around the basket. Also showed the ability to finish with the right as well. Showed good elevation on a handful of nice blocks
Michael DuKuiper 6-1 2025 Rockford I had to break up the Catholic Central hegemony with somebody. This is a good player to do it with. Not some speed merchant type point guard. A physical and stocky prospect who exploded to the basket without fear or hesitation. As a lefty, uses a slightly different look and broad shoulders to cleverly get his shot off at the rim. Also aided by surprising elevation. Got hot from beyond the arc as the day continued.
Jordan McCoy Jordan McCoy 6'0" | PG Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2026 State MI 6-0 2026 Grand Rapids Catholic Central While Hamlet and Bowen showed they are the future of the Catholic front court. McCoy made his case for next up at the point. Has plenty of size and extreme quickness as a 2026 prospect. Also showed sudden change of direction ability. Might be hard to earn a spot this year in the deep Cougar backcourt. However I wouldn’t rule it out with way McCoy played on Saturday.
Caleb Pleune 6-3 2025 Grand Rapids South Christian The Sailors will be very good this year. However there will also be opportunities for new players to earn time due to graduation. Pleune showed the versatility to possibly be an inside out option. Shot the ball well from beyond the arc. Also had a nice up and under move in the post. Competed hard defensively and got out in transition quickly.
Izaya Larthridge 6-4 2026 Grand Rapids Catholic Central I first caught this player at this same camp last year. Consequently this was a good marking point. Has shown a lot growth in the past year. Doesn’t look a middle schooler anymore. Is a legit 6-4 swingman prospect now. Was much more confident and mature with the ball in his hands. Shot and handled the ball well. Coming off an excellent grassroots campaign with United Persuit . Like a lot of players on this list. Will be interesting to see what type of varsity role he can carve out in the coming year.
