The Non-Public section is loaded with talent, but it also has the potential for players to breakout this season. Here are the 2024 Non-Public prospects who could breakout this winter.
Jordan Taylor Jordan Taylor 6'7" | PF St. Peter's Prep | 2024 State NJ , 6’7 PF St. Peter’s Prep
Taylor is the Marauders’ top returning big man this season and is slated for a big senior season. The 6’7 forward has a strong frame, which he uses to get position down low and has a soft touch around the basket. Taylor has an underrated face-up game as he can put the ball on the floor and knock down jumpers on the perimeter. He is tough to boxout on both ends of the floor and holds his ground on the defensive end. Taylor is a physical forward prospect whose ability to finish down low will help his game throughout the 2023-24 season.
Victor Torres Victor Torres 6'7" | PF St. Mary's Rutherford | 2024 State NJ , 6’7 PF St. Mary’s Rutherford
Torres has the potential to have a breakout senior season as he should receive more touches down low. The 6’7 forward knows how to get position down low and has a nice touch around the basket. Torres routinely draws contact down low and sets good screens in the halfcourt. He fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his size to influence shots around the rim. Torres is a strong forward prospect who should rack up double-doubles throughout the 2023-24 season.
Colin Cavanaugh Colin Cavanaugh 5'10" | PG Red Bank Catholic | 2024 State NJ , 5’10 PG Red Bank Catholic
Cavanaugh had a strong junior campaign and should build on it in his final varsity season. The Wilkes commit has a smooth release on his jumper and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Cavanaugh moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open layups and jumpers in the halfcourt. He has an underrated handle and gets deflections on the defensive end. Cavanaugh is a sharpshooting guard prospect who will be torching the nets from distance this season.
Evan Brown Evan Brown 6'4" | 200 lbs | SG | Left Hand St. Joseph (Mont.) | 2025 NJ , 6’3 SG St. Joseph (Mont.)
Brown is looking to make an impact on his new team as the Green Knights have the potential to make noise in Bergen County. The Dwight-Englewood transfer has a good handle, which he uses to get to the rim and finish around the basket. Brown is unafraid of drawing contact in the paint and rises up nicely on his jumper. He is a strong rebounder for a guard and has the length to defend multiple spots on the floor. Brown dropped a career-high 31 points against Immaculate Conception last season and should have similar performances to that this season.
Rion Ahmetaj Rion Ahmetaj 6'5" | SF St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State NJ , 6’5 SF St. Thomas Aquinas
Ahmetaj is one of the most interesting players in the class due to his combination of size, length and skill. The Spotswood transfer is comfortable playing on the perimeter as he can put the ball on the floor and finish around the basket. Ahmetaj uses his size to see over his defender and rises up with confidence on his jumper. He uses his length to make an impact on defense and is an underrated rebounder. Ahmetaj is a lanky wing prospect who has the potential to have a big 2023-24 season.
