Prep Hoops Florida is your year-round source of high school and grassroots basketball coverage from across the state. Here are some 2024 guards I’m excited to see take the floor this season.
Jordan Lanier, A 6-3 senior guard who is a potent perimeter scoring threat who also brings a ton of athleticism to his game. He also plays with a ton of speed and plays under control making the right plays on the offensive end whether it’s the extra pass or scoring off the catch. On the defensive end, Lanier can guard multiple positions as he plays with a ton of length and is a solid rebounder for his size. Look for Lanier to have a solid senior season as he has drawn interest from several mid-major schools.
Highlights
Myles Kirby, A 6-1 senior combo guard is a relentless scorer who can finish at the rim off the bounce at a high level. He is also dangerous when it comes to the dribble-drive as he excels when it comes to drive-and-kick out passes. Kirby also plays with a high IQ on the offensive end where he makes quick passes and is a good decision maker. On the defensive side, Kirby has high value when it comes to guarding on the ball as he shows elite footwork and body control where he can stay in front of opposing guards. Kirby currently holds an offer from Bryant University and is receiving interest from other mid-major D1 schools.
Adrian Moore, A 6-1 senior combo guard who has a strong knack when it comes to scoring in transition on the offensive end. Moore also does a great job at passing the basketball while on the move as he gets his teammates involved. He is also an underrated rebounder on the offensive end where he can finish put-backs as well as scoring while drawing contact. On the defensive end, Moore can guard multiple positions as he plays a key versatile role as he has great length and is a gifted athlete. Excited to watch Moore this upcoming season as he is starting to play with more aggressiveness on both sides of the basketball.
Tahir Bond, A 6-3 senior combo guard that continues to impress with his two-way playmaking skills whether it’s scoring at the front of the rim or blocking shots. Bond can score off the bounce as well as off the catch at a high level and has drastically improved since the beginning of his junior season. On the defensive end, Bond plays with great length as he is an elite rebounder for his size where his athleticism is pure. He will be a must-see player this upcoming season as he comes in as one of our top underrated prospects in the class. He also plays with a very unselfish knack and gets his teammates involved often.
Highlights
Gabriel Morales, A 6-2 senior guard who can impress with his ability to get into the paint and score against multiple defenders. He’s also been working on gaining confidence in shooting from the perimeter as he looks to be a tier three-level scorer this upcoming season. Morales is also one of the top elite defenders from the guard position in this year’s senior class. Look for college coaches to continue showing interest in Morales before his senior year comes to an end.
