I watched every team play once and this is how they performed when they were on the main court. We start breaking down the All-EXPO teams one by one.
Here is the 3rd Team breakdown:
Heesung An Heesung An 6'4" | SF Canyon View | 2024 State AZ Trivium Prep
A strong wing forward impressed once again. His desire to compete and his obvious strength sets him apart with many. He can get downhill with a tough layup package. He can also shoot it from mid to the three off the pull or catch. He will rebound and often push it to make a play.
Jay-Juan Gould Jay-Juan Gould 6'2" | CG Phhoenix Prep | 2024 State AZ Phhoenix Prep
A two-way combo guard had a good showing. He got downhill per usual with his speed, power, ball handling and quick spin moves. He shot the ball better then usual with catch threes after and ball fakes with one dribble pull-ups.
Chase James Chase James 6'1" | CG Centennial | 2024 State AZ Centennial
A newcomer for me is a transfer from Alabama. He is a scoring combo guard who can facilitate. He likes getting into the lane to suck in the defense and will flip it quickly to a cutter or open teammate. He can shoot the three with range beyond the arc with a very fast trigger. He will be an immediate contributor for the Coyotes.
Khalil Lias Khalil Lias 6'3" | SG Eduprize | 2026 State AZ Eduprize
An athletic sophomore will lock you up and then go score a bucket. His on-ball defense is next level stuff as he sits down and times his opponents movements to collect the steal. He is then off to the races for normally a dunk or a contested layup. He can shoot the three off the catch or dribble and score on put back offensive rebounds.
Isaac McNair Isaac McNair 6'3" | SG Premier Prep Tucson | 2026 State AZ Premier Prep Tucson (Pictured)
A Tucson sleeper was another pleasant surprise of the showcase. He is a natural scorer from all levels. He can euro step to the rim, dunk the ball on the break, he has a runner and hits threes with a super quick release. He will drive and kick it and is a quick second jumper to get on the glass to rebound and block shots inside. His team is part of the new EIBC league.
Sam O’Dowd Sam O’Dowd 6'2" | SG Rincon/University | 2025 State AZ Rincon/University
Yet another player I never heard of and shined on the big court. He has that toughness and competitiveness and skill you love to see. He can knock down the catch three with a quick trigger. He will also look to make a play and has enough handle to drive by his defenders to score in the paint.
Dante Vella Dante Vella 6'0" | SG North Canyon | 2024 State AZ North Canyon
Another event and another good showing for the sharp shooting scoring guard. He gets hot very quickly and lets it fly from the three point line. He smartly moves without the ball and makes good reads to teammates.
Rhys Walcott Rhys Walcott 5'10" | CG Eastmark | 2025 State AZ Eastmark
A study framed combo guard is an easy scorer. He can shoot the ball from both perimeter levels with step back mid-range jumpers and threes off catch or off the dribble. He can also dribble drive and make tough shots in traffic. He sees the court well and will be the go-to guy for the Firebirds.
