Here are the six players from 1-3A schools who were added to the 2025 rankings:
39 – Guy Tubbs Guy Tubbs 6'3" | PF Colby | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-3 forward, 2025, Colby (pictured):
Tubbs brings a ton of power and physicality to everything he does. He’s rugged and tough, but also explosive. He can make plays above the rim, as well as get out and run in transition. He was a key contributor to the Eagles’ 20-3 season that saw them reach the state tournament. He received honorable mention 3A and second-team in the Great West Activities League. He continued to demonstrate his ability against all competition with SSA this summer.
67 – Jack Skocny Jack Skocny 6'1" | CG Clifton-Clyde | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-1 guard, 2025, Clifton-Clyde:
Skocny had a really nice sophomore season for state-qualifier Clifton-Clyde. But it was during the club season that we really took note of his athleticism and advanced skill set. He’s a long guard who can handle the ball or play off it. He has good vision and understanding of how to get the ball to teammates in good position. He was named first-team Twin Valley League. He finished his sophomore season running up 25 points in a loss to South Gray.
68 – Rhett Kats Rhett Kats 6'4" | PF Logan-Palco | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-4 forward, 2025, Logan Palco:
The Trojans have a developing young group to watch, with Kats as the leader. He’s a tall big who can really shoot it from deep. He hit 51 threes, connecting on a nice 38% from deep. Kats is versatile and agile enough to float around and step out to hit shots or work the ball to other shooters. As a sophomore, he posted 15 points, 8 boards, 3 assists and 2 steals, getting named first-team in the Western Kansas Liberty League.
69 – Kaeden Kasselman Kaeden Kasselman 6'3" | PF Garden Plain | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-3 forward, 2025, Garden Plain:
A big man who dominated for a team that struggled, Kasselman averaged 8 boards a game. He is a big and powerful football player who brings a ton of physicality to the court. He had some big scoring games as well as dominating on the glass. Kasselman earned honorable mentions in 2A as well as second-team Central Plains League.
70 – Brandon Schmelzle Brandon Schmelzle 6'2" | PF Axtell | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-2 forward, 2025, Axtell:
A highly decorated sophomore on a state tournament team, Schmelzle earned a lot of all-state honors as well as first-team in the Twin Valley League. After averaging 12 points and 7 boards in the regular season, he scored 33 points in the tournament.
71 – Diego Esparza Diego Esparza 5'8" | PG Macksville | 2025 State KS , 5-foot-8 guard, 2025, Macksville:
Esparza has been an important piece of the success of the Mustangs the last two seasons, including the state championship last spring. He is a quick, dynamic athlete who can really be disruptive. In the first round of the 1A Div. I tournament, he posted a stat line of 12 points, 9 boards and 6 assists. On the season, he averaged 10 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
