One of those four will be in Alabama – more specifically, the Birmingham area. Spain Park HS, home to the 7A Jaguars, will be the host site of this year’s Prep Hoops Alabama Top 250 Expo. The name Spain Park has opened eyebrows throughout the state as of late after putting together 20-win campaigns the last three seasons.
Similar events are also slated to occur in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Nebraska. We previewed a few of the sophomores, juniors and seniors that will take part. Without further adieu, we conclude with a look at the freshman class.
Harry Taylor

The host school of this year’s Prep Hoops Alabama Top 250 Expo will be well-represented. In addition to the three sophomores that will be there from 7A Spain Park, Taylor is a freshman Jaguar who will take part. Taylor stands at 5-foot-10 and ran with Tennessee-based Top Notch Basketball on the travel circuit. In addition to putting a lot of emphasis on ball control and limiting turnovers, Taylor can be dangerous from behind the 3-point arc. That ball control he has includes the ability to handle the rock with his left hand. He can also put himself in position to corral rebounds and those offensive boards can turn into two-point putbacks.
While the lion’s share of participants on this year’s Prep Hoops Alabama Top 250 Expo hail from the state, a few are from nearby states. In the case of Moore, he sports the colors of 7A Carrollton out of Georgia. Moore is also a multi-sport athlete given that he participates in track and field events as well outside of basketball. Ball control is one of the centerpieces of his game. Moore knows how to find driving lanes to the rim and has an ability to finish strong at the rim. He can also be counted on to bolster a team’s rebounding efforts and can give a 3-point shooting dimension to a team’s offense.

Peterson is also among the many standouts in Alabama sports that play multiple sports. His athletic resume has also included a stint on the football field in addition to track and field. If one has been playing at the high school level prior to their freshman season, as is the case with Peterson, one must be doing something correct. He stands at 5-foot-9 and will begin his ninth grade campaign with the 7A Rebels . If he makes a slight miscalculation with the ball, he will quickly recover. Peterson’s ability to dish the rock out to his teammates will keep them involved in the flow of an offense. He can get in position to corral rebounds and can score in a variety of ways – including via 3-pointers.

Jones also goes in the category of a two-sport athlete. When the basketball season concludes, he picks up a glove and turns his attention to the baseball diamond. Jones can also be seen competing in cross country events for 3A Hokes Bluff. He is listed at 5-foot-7 and will be one of two from the Eagles that will take part in Saturday’s Prep Hoops Alabama Top 250 Expo. He has steadily developed his game from when he was younger – including the ability to draw contact and get to the free throw line and organizing an offense in a halfcourt set.
