Alabama will be one of four states this weekend that will stage Prep Hoops Top 250 Expos. Spain Park HS is a school in the Birmingham area. The other states that will stage similar events will be Nebraska and Wisconsin in the Midwest as well as Pennsylvania in the northeast.
Following our look at the 2024s that will take part in this weekend’s events, we turn our attention to more veteran talents among the 2025 class.
Houston Cunningham
Houston Cunningham
We head to the panhandle of the state for this one. The Bobcats of 6A Theodore are slated to have only one representative at this year’s Prep Hoops Alabama Top 250 Expo. Cunningham will be that lone representative and he is poised to deliver a strong showing on behalf of his school colors. He is listed at 6-foot-1 and will be one of the returners for the 2023-24 rendition of the Bobcats. Cunningham will be one of the standouts on this year’s Theodore team coached by Phillip Roebling – the longtime coach who will enter his 19th season at the helm.
Dylan Heald
Dylan Heald
Heald’s team will be heading into the 2023-24 having posted back-to-back winning seasons since the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. He is slated to be the lone representative from 3A Indian Springs that will be on the scene at this year’s Prep Hoops Alabama Top 250 Expo. Heald is a transfer to Indian Springs after a stint at 7A Vestavia Hills – which posted a record of 25-5 record last season (including 10-1 on the road). He is listed at 5-foot-10. Indian Springs will be in their second season back in the 3A ranks after spending four seasons as a 4A school.
Jayden Mangram
Jayden Mangram
There goes that Mangram. He will be one of several returners for this rendition of 6A Murphy. He will be one of several from the Panthers slated to be on hand at this year’s Prep Hoops Alabama Top 250 Expo. Six from Murphy are on the list for this year’s event – including three from this year’s sophomore class. Mangram has no problems drawing contact and getting opportunities at the free throw line. His lockdown defense can cause problems for opposing ball carriers and leaving them turnover prone. Mangram’s rim attacking and ferociousness can lead to him delivering strong finishes at the cup.
At a towering 6-foot-6, Sellers will be one of the taller prospects that will be on the scene this week at the Prep Hoops Alabama Top 250 Expo. He stands at an imposing 6-foot-6 for 5A Faith Academy. Sellers combines that height with an ability to play at a variety of positions on the floor – including as a guard and as a forward. He combines that length with a wingspan that can affect an opposing team’s passing lanes and create extra possessions for his team. Sellers also does a great deal of work on the glass. He is a dual-sport athlete who also competes with the Lions’ football team.
