After revealing my all-event first team and all-event second team, it’s time to breakdown some more playmakers that are worth keeping an eye on. Without any further ado, here’s my list of some all-event standouts in Kentucky to watch for on the court.
Highlights
At the top of my list of notable performers is Sam Wilson Sam Wilson 5'10" | SG Bullitt East | 2024 State KY , a 5-foot-10 shooting guard at Bullitt East High School. In addition to outstanding size, speed and versatility, what makes Wilson so efficient is his overall explosiveness on both sides of the floor, proving he can sink pull-up jumpers from anywhere on the court and force turnovers on the other side. Another aspect of Wilson’s game that made a difference was his ability to drive to the rim, quickly get back on defense and his ability to shut down long-range shots from up top.

I am additionally impressed with Mason Miles Mason Miles 6'1" | CG Holy Cross | 2024 State KY , a 6-foot-1 combo guard at Holy Cross High School. What impressed me most about Miles is his strong footwork, precise passing and ball movement around the perimeter, showcasing his selfless playstyle and ability to support his teammates. With great ball control, Miles utilized his solid footwork and sudden movement to avoid pressure and drive past the defense to the rim. Miles also impressed defensively due to his ability to pressure shooters from up top and shut down passing.
Claiming the number three spot on my list is Bryten Close Bryten Close 6'7" | C Taylor County | 2026 State KY , a 6-foot-7 center at Taylor County High School. Close was highly impactful in the paint, blasting the opposing team on both sides of the court with his commanding strength, solid wingspan and ability to consistently collect second-chance opportunities. On top of utilizing his speed and toughness to muscle his way to the rim for layups, Close stood out with his ability to overwhelm players underneath the basket, swat dangerous shots and contribute physical defense down low.
Another skilled prospect to keep an eye on is Luke Idlett Luke Idlett 5'10" | PG Bowling Green | 2025 State KY , a 5-foot-10 point guard at Bowling Green High School. With excellent size, speed and quickness in transition, Idlett contributed major firepower to his team from the top of the key. What I liked most about Idlett’s playstyle was his composure, ball control and organization, showing off his smart decision-making and ability to move the ball around. Idlett also impressed me with his ability to sink crucial baskets along the perimeter and hustle in the paint with his ability to score layups.
Clarence Brown
Clarence Brown
Coming in at number five on my list of difference-makers is Clarence Brown, a 5-foot-10 small forward at Fort Knox High School. In addition to a strong handle on the ball, Brown stood out due to his electric quickness and selfless playstyle, making smart passes and calculated shots from all over the floor. On the other side of the court, Brown applied significant defensive pressure and impressed me with his ability to overwhelm the opposing offense, shut down scoring from down low with his aggression, and his ability to steal the ball.
