In this series, we will be a look at some quick hitters, the top player, potential breakout player, other roster roster members and notable games of the upcoming season. For today’s spotlight, we take a look at the Westfield Shamrocks.
Quick Hitters
- Finished 16-8 last season
- Lost to Noblesville in Sectionals
- Shane Sumpter returns for 9th year as head coach. 112-80 over the last 9 seasons.
Top Player(s): Nic Book Nic Book 6'8" | PF Westfield | 2024 State IN / Trey Buchanan Trey Buchanan 6'0" | PG Westfield | 2024 State IN
Another duo that you can’t pick one over the other as the top player. The duo of Book and Buchanan may be the best 1-2 punch combo in the entire state this season. Book, who is from New Zealand, transferred to Westfield from Oak Hill Academy, is a 6’8 power forward that has a high skill level and is pretty versatile at his position. Buchanan is one of the best lead guards in the in-state 2024 class with an athletic build and fluid playing style. This duo is going to be so tough tough stop this season.
Potential Breakout Player: Charles Farrell Charles Farrell 6'2" | PG Westfield | 2024 State IN
Farrell makes up Westfield’s ‘Big Three’ while also having the potential to breakout as well. The super athletic guard was one of the better two-way prospects in the 2024 in-state class and has the ability to get downhill to the rim offensively and defend his position on the other end at a high rate. Would not be shocked to see him be the number 1 defender for Westfield this season.
Other Important Roster Members
- Caleb Wise Caleb Wise 6'2" | PG Westfield | 2024 IN – Wise will likely be the best perimeter shooter on Westfield this season. He is an intriguing under-the-radar guard for small college programs to potentially check out.
- Armani Middlebrooks – Middlebrooks is a wing that attacks well and is a strong inside finisher. Will another great wing/post option for Westfield.
Notable Games (Confirmed)
- at Kokomo (11/25)
- at Noblesville (12/15)
- vs Carmel (1/6)
- at Fishers (2/1)
